Chapter 35

"Hey I brought this. I heard it helps. Sorry I didn't bring one for you." Elizabeth said handing Charles a cup of coffee. "It's okay. I should probably go to the chapel anyway." I wasn't much of a believer, but this, this was for my son, hopefully the man above hears me. As I walked in, there were a couple of people already in here praying as well, so I thought a little prayer wouldn't cause any harm.

Elizabeth's POV

When I walked towards them, they were so close to each other. I felt my blood boil. But I had to play nice, I mean she just lost her son, or should I say, their son.
"Hey I brought this. I heard it helps. Sorry I didn't bring one for you." I said handing Charles a coffee when I realized that I didn't bring one for Natalie. "It's okay, I should probably go to the chapel anyway." Then she left, which was perfect for me, so I can talk to Charles.

"Hey can I talk to you real quick before you go?" I asked Charles.
His eyes were swollen from all the crying he did. Charles is a man who doesn't like to show his feelings but I guess It doesn't matter when it comes to Noah. "Elizabeth, can this wait?" He asks, sounding exhausted.
"I-I-I know that this isn't the right time to tell you this but-t......... I-i-" He cuts me off by putting his hand on my shoulder and looking into my eyes. "Look Elizabeth, whatever it is, just tell me later, okay?" Before I can respond, he kisses my forehead and leaves.

I guess that's how the new Charles is now, always leaving when I need him. I just sighed and left the hospital. It was already nighttime and they didn't need me anyway. It was raining when I went out to my car. I got in and drove home.

There was a new person that applied to JR tech. I went over to his application and took a look. He's cute so I gave him the job. I wasn't just a lawyer, I also worked at JR tech. I loved working in law but other times I loved working with technology. I took one last look at his application and saw that it said he just got out of the army. Damn he looked so handsome and a handsome army man is even better. His name was Finn, Finn Foster.
I closed my laptop and went to my bathroom to brush my teeth. As I walk out of the bathroom, I see Charles clothes, sitting on my dresser, so I go and lift it up to my face to just smell it. It smelled like him, and I miss that. I put it back down and went to bed.

The next day I woke up and went downstairs. I found clothes and shoes in the living room, and see that it was Charles moving his stuff. I guess he really is moving out. "Good morning." He says as he kisses my forehead, takes my coffee, drinks it and then gives it back to me. "Good morning to you too. What's going on here?"
"I finally got a place, now you don't have to worry about moving out." I put my coffee cup down and cross my arms.
"Charles you do know that I was just mad and that you don't have to move out. We can still work this out." I wasn't the type to really show my feelings either but with Charles, I needed to show him how I felt.

"I-i have to go. Natalie probably needs me." He says going for the door but I wasn't having it. Not today. "Really? Natalie needs you? Look I get it, Noah is missing and you guys are going through a lot right now, but what about me? No one cares about me. Not you, not my family, not my sister. No one! You know what just go! It's fine. I'll just have to find myself a person who can actually love me." With that, I went up to my room and just cried.

The worst part is that he didn't even come upstairs to check on me. Nor did he call. I felt so angry, useless, powerless. But I had to remind myself, I'm Elizabeth after all, and no one takes what's mine without paying the price.
