An ongoing battle between good and evil, perpetually in a stalemate. Neither could gain the upper hand; that is, until things began to change, and grow more complex.

A shining land, bright and warm, holds two white Prospitians; still hand in hand since the moment their souls departed from the land of the living. Though love kept them together, and togetherness brought about happiness in these two, these ones of royalty, a sense of sadness could not help but linger about in the air.

“My love, why did it have to come to this?” The White King squeezed the hand of his beloved Queen.

“There wasn’t really anything we could do, dear.” The Queen replied, gazing out at the now setting sun of the Dream Bubble. “Things just grew out of our control. But at least… we are still together. I’m glad we were at least able to reunite before… you know.”

“Yes.” The King agreed sadly. “Souls may separate due to time of departure, but the closer they are to one another, the faster they can reunite in this world of dreams.”

“Perhaps we can be considered luckier than most.” The Queen said, reciprocating her husband’s grip. “Some souls never reunite again after departure…”

“But still… if only we had known.” The King began to grow agitated at the thought of that mutated Dersite. “We could have possibly done something about it. We could have possibly prevented that lunatic from—”

“What could we have possibly done?” The Queen interrupted, looking down at her worn and ragged gown, though thinking nothing of it. “He had been prototyped with something neither of us could stand up against. However, if we had had the other ring…”

“…Do you know where it has ended up?” The King asked.

“Actually… yes.” The Queen smiled to herself. “And I do believe its current owner will make good use of it. She will perhaps even stop that madman from running amok and causing havoc throughout the universe… But then again, what do we know? At this point in time, anything can happen, really. We can only hope for the best.”

The sky of the dream bubble slowly but surely darkened to that of a quiet night, and the two, still hand in hand, retreated to a small three-room hut they now called home. A small set of candles glowed in the main room, guiding the royals to bed.

Though they could possibly no longer be called royalty, such trivial matters didn’t cross the minds of these two, as they embraced under a warm blanket they had found amongst other things throughout the area. And as stars of a past era began to appear and decorate the sky, these two fell into a peaceful slumber in each other’s arms. However, the Queen’s dream was anything but peaceful.

Their time together, while alive, was very brief after the Queen had exiled herself. And she was more than happy to finally see her husband again. She had missed him dearly. But that monster… that mutt, that mongrel, he destroyed everything.

The violet bloom finally blossomed after what felt like an eternity to the Windswept Questant. The Writ Keeper silently stepped out into the stone ruins and took her hand lovingly. He was happy she was still alive. A short embrace coupled with heartfelt words were shared between the two, before a brown and seemingly rotting bloom sprouted from the time capsule. The two wondered what was coming for only a moment before a mutated Dersite, that damned Noir, appeared and ended their lives without hesitation. The Queen could still remember his face, altered to that of a hound, snarling as he swung the sword that had been initially embedded in his chest.

With a jolt and a fear filled gasp, the Queen practically leapt from her place in bed, but her husband’s arms around her waist kept her on the mattress.

Just a dream.’ she thought. ‘Just a dream…

“Something wrong?” the King let out a tired yawn.

“Oh…” the Queen glanced over to him before smiling and shaking her head. “It’s nothing, just a dream.” She lay back down and they intertwined their hands as the King pulled her close.

“It’s okay.” He said. “I’ll always be here to protect you.”

“I know.” The Queen nuzzled into his shoulder. “Thank you.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

And with that, the two again fell into slumber, their love defending their departed souls and keeping them at peace, always and forever, hand in hand.
