(Y/N) looked over to his window, sighing. He worked for a secret magical organization called IRIS, and he had just received a call from his boss. Five years ago they were notified that there was an uprise in the levels of magical activity; they got so high that IRIS almost decided to get involved. However, as soon as they were getting ready to dispatch their best agents, everything calmed down. It all ended as suddenly as it began.
The (H/C) haired male had wondered why his bosses decided to forget about the incident instead of heading there to analyze what had caused it, as well as if there was a possibility it may happen again, and if it could be prevented. But then again, he didn't get to call the shots. Not yet anyway, which meant he had to comply with whatever his bosses wanted him to do.
He found it amusing, how he was considered to have even greater abilities than his bosses and yet he had to nod his head at every measly request. He felt like a dog sometimes, and it made him sick. But he was aware of his position. Even if he were the most powerful wizard alive, no one was indispensable, he could get fired at any given time and they'd probably erase his memory; he's seen it happen before, after all.
Gritting his teeth he slammed his fist on the table in front of him. The cup of tea he had been drinking spilled all over a stack of papers; he huffed and waved his hand, causing it to be instantly cleaned up, including the now dry papers. Of course, five years ago he had begged his supervisor to pull some strings and let him take care of the investigation, but no one thought it was an important enough issue to be revisited. Now, five years later, when he finally had made time to visit his mother, he was being forced to do exactly what he had begged to do all those years ago.
He supposed he should feel accomplished in a way, his prediction was coming true, after all. Moreover, his bosses acknowledged him as the best agent he had, which is why he had been chosen to carry out this case on his own. And yet all he could feel was anger. But anyone in his position would feel at least a little bit annoyed, of course; if I'd just come back from a month-long mission on a completely different country and hadn't seen my mother in almost a year, I'd feel that way too.
It made his blood boil, couldn't they give him at least a week-long vacation? He cursed under his breath, looking at the papers in front of him. IRIS had been notified of a rise in activity levels again, it wasn't nearly as extreme as five years ago, but IRIS had decided it was alarming enough to finally get involved. He traced his finger over the map, Gravity Falls, so he finally had a chance to go there, huh?
Truth be told, he'd heard weird stories about the place when he was a kid. One of his relatives used to live there, after all; although he never actually saw the place with his own eyes. Jeremias was the name of his cousin, he lived there for about five years before moving out to England. (Y/N) smiled at the memories, the main reason he'd wanted to take over the case back then was because of Jeremias; he remembered Jeremias being suspicious of the town, claiming it was haunted.
With another sigh, he heaped himself out of his seat and walked towards his bedroom. IRIS had classified this assignment as level 5. There were only six levels of urgency. (Y/N) figured there was nothing he could do now, anyway, aside from getting ready to depart. If he hurried up he might still have time to visit his mother, so it was about time he stopped sulking and got to work.
The bus stopped right in front of a sign that read "Welcome to Gravity Falls". IRIS had at least been kind enough to send a driver to pick him up. "(L/N), be careful out there," a blonde beauty said to him, Theresa, they used to be a team back when (Y/N) first joined the organization.
