That night I was playing Apex Legends with Jacob and Tony. As soon as we got on the game, Jacob started asking questions.

"So, did you do it?"

"Yup."

"And she said yes?"

"Of course."

"Damn... hey you go around that way so we can corner him."

"Got it."

"Wait so you really are dating Elena Wheeler?" Tony pipes in.

"Yeah guys, I don't know why Jacob doubted me."

"I bet you won't stay with her for a month." Jacob says as we win the game. I think about what he said.

"Give me $500 and I will." Jacob laughs quietly.

"Yeah, ok. Deal." He says confidently.

"Alright I gotta go guys." Tony says.

"Yeah, I should go to. I gotta text Elena." I smirk to myself.

"Alright, bye guys." Jacob says. I hang up and go to my texts.

me: You think you can last a month with me? Jacob is betting more money.

elena: why does he keep betting you stuff?

me: he has more money than he knows what to do with

elena: then, yeah if that means $400 for me

me: not a math whiz but im pretty sure it does

elena: I guess let's do this then

This is gonna be a long month.

The next morning I got ready for school and went downstairs. My brother, Aiden, is sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast. Aiden is a freshman so I have to drive him to school with me.

"Hey Aiden, I'm picking up someone and taking them to school with us today."

"What?! Who?" Aiden suddenly got annoyed.

"Elena Wheeler."

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"No-," I thought about this. Do I tell my family that she's my girlfriend? I guess I have to or Aiden will find out at school and tell my parents anyway," actually, yeah. She is."

Aiden made a gagging noise from the table.

When I get to Elena's, she walks outside followed by a man who I'm assuming is her dad. She gets in the passenger seat and rolls down the window. The man walks up to us and leans his head inside of my car.

"My daughter says that you will be taking her to school from now on?"

"Yes sir."

"And who are you exactly? Her boyfriend?"

"No." Elena says.

"Yes." I say at the same time as her. If my family has to know, so does hers. We look at each other. She laughs nervously.

"Well dad, it's um... complicated."

"Alright then," he stares at me, almost like he's threatening me, and turns to Elena," have a good day sweetie." He walks back into the house and Elena rolls up her window.

"I'm so sorry about that." She says, looking down at her shoes.

"Eh, it's cool. I've dealt with tons of angry dads, " Elena rolls her eyes, "So this is my brother, Aiden." I point to the back seat.

"Oh, hi." She says nervously.

When we pull into the school parking lot, we all get out and Aiden speeds away to his friends as usual. Elena starts to walk away and I walk up next to her.

"Where do you think you're going?" I say, trying to keep up with her fast pace.

"...to talk to my friends."

"You have friends?!"

"Hilarious."

"I know. But you can't go talk to your friends cause you have to come talk to my friends." I walk behind her and grab her arms to steer her towards my locker, where all of my friends are talking. She tries her best to resist, but she's kind of weak. There in a huddle are Becka, Logan, Tony, Jacob, Britney, and Lindsey.

"Hey guys! This is my girlfriend Elena!" I yell to not only my friends, but the rest of the hall as well. Oops.
Elena's face instantly goes tomato red. Everyone else's jaws drop.

"Wait... you're dating her?" Becka asks.

"Yeah. So what were you guys talking about?" I attempt to change the subject. Nobody says a word.

Suddenly Elena shoves past me and runs up the stairs.
