Lose the Battle But Win the War

There is a war between two voices      going on inside my head
And one continues to fill me with a sense of dread
It says your confidence is dead
Quit while you're ahead
But the other one tells me keep your head held high
And learn to fly
Because confidence cannot be killed or shattered
It can only be buried deeply within a person who has been bruised and battered
Buried by someone who believed their life never mattered
So don't give up or let your dreams be scattered
And to some it would seem this war can be ended with a simple decision
However it's more difficult when your thought process needs a complete revision
Because even though it is my choice which one I listen to
Wether I quit and give up or continue to push my way through
It is harder than it seems
Because a part of me had died and given up on my dreams
But now I have made up my mind I will no longer feed into that sense of dread
And be blindly lead
I will push my way through to continue being made new
Because that voice of dread isn't true
And I now know it never was or will be
I just needed a small push to help set me free.
