You were walking, no...you were running. Men were chasing you down the path and out into the woods as dogs barked, making echos all around the woods. You kept running, not looking back at all. Sweat and rain dropped poured from your head, as thunder struck which unfortunately, made the dogs angrier. They rushed you done into a deserted pond nearby. You had not choice but to just jump in. You swam your bruised body all the way to the other side. You then turned around, seeing that the dogs have left, and so have the men. You sigh in relief and walked into a very muddy corn field. You then sat down on a tree stump, letting tears pour down your eyes as you looked at the gray sky. This land used to be beautiful... Kids would run around and play, men would be at work as the mothers cooked desserts all day long...well that's what you were told. You suddenly burst out crying. Most of the people here were emotionless, well not people...slaves. The salves were kept in the waste land and were experimented on. You were lucky though. You had escaped and managed to make a living in the wasteland. You had no one though. No one.
You stopped sulking when you heard little cheeps below the trunk. You turn to see who it was, surprise, it was little chicks. They were all on top of your hole filled shoes, cheeping away. You laughed as you petted one of them, but then turn to see that there were another pair of feet right by you. You look up and see a boy, around your age who was holding a bag and a frying pan. You look at him confused. "Who are you...?" You asked but he just stared at you with his emotionless face. You then get up and he raised up the frying pan, ready to attack you at any moment but you stop him in time. "I'm nice! I promise!" You told him, so he puts it down. He then hugged you and pulled back. He seemed empty, like he had no face. All he did was stare at you for a while. It looked like he was trying to figure you out, and you knew it. He knew you were a runaway too. He reached into his bag, and pulled out a weird looking object until you could identify what it was. It was corn... You took the corn and thanked him. Since you haven't had food in weeks, you quickly bit into it. The poor form had nothing left on it. All they boy could do was chuckle, he didn't think it was weird, he thought it was sad. A runaway just like him was starving, homeless, and lost, just like him.
"So what's your name?" You asked, but he didn't reply. It was like he was unable to talk, or he did not want to. "Do...you have a name?" You asked. He shook his head no as he started walking, but held your hand as you walked. "Well my name is (y/n)...May I give you a name?" You asked. He nodded as he stopped by a barn and went inside it. You were still thinking of what to call him, and you then finally think of a name. "How about Red? Like your shirt?" You asked and he shook his head. He then grabbed some mud and started writing on the wall. You tried to figure it out. He was absolutely HORRIBLE at writing, but you made out what it was. "Friend..?" You asked and he nodded, pointing at himself. "Okay, well nice to meet you friend!" You said was you hugged him tightly.
