Mercedes Catherine called her sister on her way to work. "Hey!"

"Hey." Marceline Anne responded.

"How was your first night in the house?"

"It was pretty great."

"You snuggled up with your hubby all night?"

"Don't get cussed out."

"I want to know!"

"I'm not telling you anything."

"Will you at least tell me how it felt to wake up to him there?"

"He's hot and he likes to sleep on top of me."

"Aww!" Mercedes Catherine cooed before opening the door in front of her.

"No "Aww!"! He's hot! I thought I'd die!"

"But you didn't."

"I'm not talking to you anymore."

"Okay. I'm sorry." Mercedes Catherine came upon her office that she shared with two other doctors.

"What are you doing? Don't you have work?"

"Yeah." Mercedes Catherine juggled everything to unlock the door. "I just got in."

"Well we're just at the library, doing class."

"Is he with you?"

"Yes."

"And you've been talking about him?!" Mercedes Catherine set her things on her desk.

"Yes."

"Marcy?!" Mercedes Catherine burst out laughing.

"What? I'm not going to talk about him behind his back."

"Good girl. Well I just wanted to talk to you, see how last night went. I'll see you- later." She almost said at home but realized that wasn't true.

"I'll see you at cheerleading practice."

Mercedes Catherine shook her head. Marceline Anne could always see through to her. "See you at practice."

"Bye."

"Bye." Mercedes Catherine hung up and started going through her check list. Things were different but they weren't bad.

Marceline Anne chewed on her pretzel thoughtfully.

"What's wrong?" Karen asked.

"I just realized I have no curtains."

Karen blinked. "You don't!"

"Want to go get some?"

"Don't you need measurements?"

"You're a buzzkill, KayBee."

"I resent that!"

Marceline Anne just looked at her.

"I have to go home anyway. CJ is having some club meeting after football so I have to watch the babies."

"What about Merry? She's twelve now."

"My mom barely lets me watch her precious kids."

Marceline Anne smiled and looked over the cheerleaders working out a cheer. "You know you love them."

"When did I say I didn't?"

"I read between the lines."

Karen giggled. "I love my siblings like you love yours."
