Chapter one (Have I Lost All Hope?)
A soft thump was heard in a quiet forest as a girl went limp and let herself fall into a grassy field. On closer inspection the girl had bruises on her arms and face, it was possible to see them because the long sleeve black knitted shirt was torn in multiple places. She ran her fingers through her brown hair that was tied back into a high ponytail. She rolled onto her side revealing the decent muscles she had in her forearms. The girl had decent muscles though you couldn't see them unless she was flexing.

Besides the soft breathing coming from the brown haired girl all of a sudden there was a sound of crunching leaves meaning someone was walking.

"Astrid! Big sister?" A faint voice was heard throughout the forest but no matter the girl with the long brown hair answered.

"Yes Maria?" The so called 'Astrid' replied with a tired tone but it was filled with annoyance. The girl named Maria chased after the sound of Astrid's voice. When Astrid opened her deep red eyes she could see the Maria had medical kit with her.
Astrid brushed her fingers through the other girls jet black hair. It was just long enough to fall past her shoulders. She smiled softly at the twinkle in the others eyes.

"Your brown eyes always complimented your freckles you know.." Astrid said with a weak tone.

"Don't talk now Astrid, you need to rest. You took quite the beating from those demons.." The girl named Maria grumbled.

"Maria you knew I had to.. If I didn't stand up for grandmother who would? They were going to take her last pills away.. She'll die without them!" Astrid said while letting out a deep sigh. She sat up and leaned her back aging a tree as she dusted off her black pants.

"Astrid you don't need to tell me that. I know very well like you do what evil is happening to our country. Normal people our age have these things called televisions and cell phones but we don't even have a microwave! Those demons are keeping us caged like rats.. Our whole country is doomed. But I know that one day this all will change." The girl named Amir said looking up at the stars.

"There has to be a greater power who will sure help us soon right? There has to be something more than just being scared all day and fighting for food. I mean-" Maria was cut off by screams coming from the village within the trees.
With a glance you could see smoke rising from the trees. Before they could even say anything one of the so called 'demons' had come through the trees.

"Astrid run!" Maria yelled as the demon grabbed her by the arms.

"Maria I can't lease you! I'm your big sister!" She shouted but Maria pushed her into the river with her foot as she tried to break free of her captor. Despite the name 'demon' they were actually human. They just felt like demons because of the aura they gave off.

Astrid to get out of the river but the current was incredibly strong. She was swept away without even being able to put up a fight. She shut her eyes and closed her mouth and nose as she was brought under the water at a fast pace. It didn't take long for her to lose all oxygen and fall unconscious.
