We arrived at the train station a few minutes later and parked the car. Ashton helped me out of the car, the gentleman he was, and then tended to Teegan. She smiled and whispered to me that I was lucky to have him. I blushed.

Ashton tried to buy Teegan and I's train ticket but I didn't allow him. I bought Teegan's without any hassle from her and then we made our way to the platform. The train would be arriving in 6 minutes.

Ashton sat down on a bench and pulled me onto his lap. He played with my hair as I looked out for the train. Teegan sat next to us on her phone. She was texting Kendra, our sister.

The train arrived and we stole a bunch of seats together. It was a little table and four seats around it. I sat by the window with Ashton beside me and Teegan opposite. Just before the train started moving to the next station, Teegan fell asleep.

"You nervous?" Ashton asked quietly.

"Yeah, a little bit." I whispered fidgeting with my rings.

"Don't worry," Ashton put his arm around me. "Everything will be okay."

I fell asleep after that. I was on Ashton's shoulder when I woke up.

"Sorry," I said, leaning off his shoulder and rubbing my eyes.

"Don't be." Ashton said, locking his phone.

"Where are we?" I asked looking out the window.

"Pennsylvania, but not Philly yet. I think we'll be there in a few minutes." Ashton smiled, squeezing my hand and not letting go.

"Oh, cool. And the hospital is only a few minutes walk from the train." I told him, turning over my hand so it had more of a hand hold rather than a hand on hand position.

The train pulled into Philadelphia station ten minutes later. I gaze out the window and was immediately in awe. There was a thick blanket of snow covered the ground but it was not snowing. I woke up Teegan and she lead us out of the train. The air was warm and the snow looked like it wouldn't be staying. We then disposed of our tickets and started over venture to the hospital.

"Hey guys, do you mind if I just go now, I'm not really in the mood to see mom? I just wanna forget about the whole situation really." Teegan announced as we passed a small cafe called Paddy's. The aroma coming from it was delightful.

"Sure, no prob. Are you gonna go to a friends house?" I asked, "I don't want you going home if your dad is there."

"Yeah, I was gonna go to Sophie and Jessica's." Teegan answered, referring to her friends who lived in the area.

"Okay," I pulled her into a hug. "I love you." I pecked the top of her head.

"Love you too, Cass." She pulled out of my embrace, probably feeling embarrassed, smiled at Ashton and headed down the direction of the road that we had just come from.

"She's sweet." Ashton smiled, slipping his hand into mine.

"Yeah." I agreed, not really listening.

We walked to the hospital hand in hand. When we reached the reception, we asked for my mom, Lydia Mendes, and a nurse with short, red hair showed us to room 482.

The nurse, Beth, smiled at us as we entered the room am then left. I was shocked at the sight of my mom.

She didn't look dying. She was just a bit pale and hooked up to a machine. She was reading a new paper.
