Abel stood back looking at the mirror closer, "It is really an ancient marvel. I wonder who it is even talking about though." He took a deep breath, that seemed to rather shake his bones in fear instead of calm his body. There was nothing they could do besides come back to the site and take pictures, but right now was not the time for that.
Abel placed a small tracker onto the mirror's edge in order to come back when they were finished. Just because they had plans to finish doesn't mean they can't come back with people for the research of the area. He was lost in the translation and its meaning. While thinking, every section of his mind was at work searching for an answer and a way out.
Abel eyed the doorway once again and read the passage above the door, "Lacrimae plagam Eden, or Tears of Eden."
"Abel... Isn't the Eden..."
"Yes. But, this phrase won't be justifiable if people do not understand her. Tears here mean that it takes the blood of Eden to probably open?"
With his hand raised up in the air, Leon stood confused, "Where the hell does it say tears are blood?" There was a shift in his standing position where he leaned on the wall.
"No, there isn't anything, but if you knew Eden, she has a condition... Eden doesn't always just cry normal tears. She has Haemolacria in which she cries blood as well. So the door needs blood to open I believe." After taking a step back, Abel pulled out a small knife and cut open his palm. He squeezed his fist tightly and pressed his now bloody palm to the stone. The blood from his hand started to snake through the etched in pattern of the door, causing his blood to highlight the pattern. As his blood made its way to the center of the door, a latch on the door swiveled as if it unlocked it. Abel pushed on the door as it creaked open, loudly, but still unnoticed from the world above. "This is strange, but I think we might have found something older than we originally thought."
Ether and Leon followed Abel as he led the way down a hall. He pressed on a doorway that opened only into a picture frame. With a confused look to the others, they each passed through the window made by the painting. A stairwell stood across the hall, leaving them confused of the length they walked below, "We circled around to the stairwell that we thought was just below us at that really odd door. I can't believe they had done this. I mean, cool, but also, so weird." Leon let out a sigh that caught the attention of nearby travelers.
"Hey! Are you protecting the Pope? We would like to see if we can get a photo taken with you guys! We watched His Holiness go into the large hallroom, but my sister and I would love to take a picture of a real Inquisition member." The two women stepped forward smiling at the two men. They looked very much like siblings for sure, but the one speaking seemed to have a more peppy attitude.
Leon whisked back his hair with one hand and handed Abel the torch as he headed towards the women, "Why yes ladies, but on one condition," He gave a smirk and eyed them two, "You must take the picture with you both giving me a peck on each cheek. Oh, and we aren't the stupid Inquisition, we are the-"
"Leon! Let's go!" Abel yanked his arm back angrily, his voice commanding respect. "We don't have time! If the vampire is still out and about and the Pope just arrived back, there might be an ambush! Now!" Esther led the way as Leon was dragged away by Abel.
The men that came with Cardinal Jacob all were standing in a semicircle around their leader, protecting him at all costs due to the latest news. Whereas His Holiness had the rest of the room filled with guards. Most importantly, Brother Petros stood directly beside the Pope. He glared at every person as he scanned them. There was no friendliness radiating off of him for being the Pope's number one protector. Before they continued with anything formal, His Holiness was escorted to his seat to be alongside his brother and sister. The three of them stayed seated as Cardinal Jacob started to present his gifts to the Church. The several men he had with him, thirteen in total, each brought a gift. It was something straight out of a movie, each person walked up, handed a gift to one of the members serving the Pope.
