You smoothed down the satiny fabric of your dress and looked at your reflection in the mirror. Eliza wrapped her arms around you and kissed your cheek. "I'm so happy for you!" she squealed excitedly. You squeezed her arm and turned, where Mrs. Rensselaer stood with a bouquet of (favourite flowers).

"Today is the most important day of your life and one you will cherish forever. Marriage is a union of love and happiness. Your love is pure and true and will shine always." Her eyes sparkled with tears and you hugged her tightly. "Your mother would've been so proud," she whispered. Your adoptive mother handed you the bouquet and opened the door as you walked towards Mr. Schuyler.

"Are you ready?" You took a deep breath and nodded, lopping your arm through his. As you walked into the chapel, you looked ahead and you locked eyes with John, whose jaw had dropped at the sight of you in your wedding dress. You blushed but kept your eyes on him, marvelling at how handsome he looked, even if he still relied on the crutch to move around. Once you reached the end of the aisle, Mr. Schuyler turned to you, his eyes glistening. "I wish your parents could've been here." You smiled and squeezed him tightly before allowing him to place a gentle kiss on your forehead. You stepped up onto the altar and handed your bouquet to Eliza before turning to take John's hands in yours.

"You look beautiful," he whispered, smiling shyly. Your cheeks pinkened and you looked down at the ground. The priest smiled and flipped open his book, beginning the ceremony.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony." He turned to John. "John Laurens, do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in holy matrimony, to love her, to honour her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

John tucked a stray lock of your hair behind your ear and smiled, blinking away the tears forming in his eyes.

" I do."

"(Y/N) (L/N), do you take this man to be your husband, to live together in holy matrimony, to love him, to honour him, to comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

You took a deep breath and smiled. "I do."

The priest turned to John. "Mr. Laurens, repeat after me. I, John Laurens, take you, (Y/N) (L/N), to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part." John repeated the vow, his eyes never leaving yours. The priest turned to you.

"Ms. (L/N), repeat after me. I, (Y/N) (L/N), take you, John Laurens, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part." You repeated the vow, willing the tears in your eyes not to fall.

"And now, for the exchange of rings," the priest said, gesturing towards John, who handed him the golden rings. "Put this ring on (Y/N)'s finger and repeat the following. 'I give you this ring as a token and pledge of our constant faith and abiding love.'" He took your hand in his and repeated the words of the priest. An ecstatic giggle escaped your lips and you clapped your hand over your mouth, your eyes wide and cheeks red.

The priest chuckled good-naturedly and handed you the other ring. "Now, Ms. (L/N), you do the same." You echoed the words John had stated only moments before and slipped the shining ring onto his finger.

John and you joined hands and the priest pronounced the final words of the ceremony.

"By virtue of the authority vested in me under the laws of the State of New York, I now pronounce you husband and wife." He turned to John, a bright smile illuminating his features. "You may kiss the bride." John swept you into a passionate embrace as you wound your arms around his neck, filled with love for your husband.

After pulling away from John, you intertwined your fingers in his as the two of you walked down the aisle, the bubbling chatter of friends and family swirling around you.

You walked out of the church and climbed into the carriage waiting out front. It started along the road and you leaned your head on John's shoulder.

"I love you so much." he murmured, pressing his lips against your head. You sighed in agreement and nuzzled your face into his neck. You soon arrived at the Schuyler mansion and the two of you were greeted with a smattering of polite applause from the congregation of guests.

After Hamilton and Eliza had delivered their speeches as best man and maid of honour, you spent the rest of the night thanking family and friends and dancing with nearly everybody present.

When stars began to twinkle against the ebony sky, you and John climbed into a carriage that would take you to your new home. Despite still having a bad leg, John attempted to carry you over the threshold, which resulted in the two of you nearly collapsing on the doorstep. Once you were inside, John wasted no time at all in commencing your wedding night. The bond between you and John was one that would only strengthen with time,  and although you had the rest of your life to do so, you wanted to take advantage of every moment.
