OUR FUTURE LOOKED BLEAK

OUR FUTURE LOOKED BLEAK. One day, everything was normal. Kids were playing in the park. Teens were skipping school. Adults were hurrying back to their mundane nine to fives.

And then the dead rose.

A sickening virus and a broken window at a military base that soon exploded was enough to bring the world to its knees. It spread rapidly through the air. First in the north. Then in the south. The east coast. The west. Birds carried it. Animals. They took it over seas. They took it home after an adventure and the chasing of a red ball. And when the animals came back, when they crossed paths with simple people,

They brought ruin.

All it took was a small breath, a second of opening your mouth to greet a friend or taking a breath and filling your lungs with what you thought was clean air.

It started with a sneeze. Then a wet cough. Then the fever set in. They lost their voice, became practically walking vegetables. And, before you knew it, your loved ones were dead.
