I shut the rickety metal gate and watched as Gizmo galloped up the hill, his tail in the air as he did multiple pig roots in a row. One side of him was caked with dry dirt, turning into mud as it matted into his still damp coat, his other side sparkled in the sun as I had just washed him. Of course the first thing he did once I put him out was roll, but only on one side before galavanting up the hill to the round bale at the top where his best friend, Marty, a 13 hand palomino pony stood calmly eating. I began to walk back to my Grandma's house to say goodbye when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, I took out my ancient phone and unlocked it which took half a century because of the multiple buttons I had to press on the keypad. When I finally managed to unlock it, I opened up a new text from my Mum,
Mum: Someone got some mail.....
I gasped excitedly and began running to my Grandma's house to let her know I was going, I really hope the mail, was what I thought it would be.
"Bye Gran!" I called opening the front door, and running out when I saw her head poke around the corner from the kitchen. I grabbed my bike which was leant against her house and jumped on pedalling as fast as I could back home. It was only a quick 5 minute ride before I was turning into my driveway eager to open my mail. I ran into the house ripping the door open, and diving to the table where a lone letter sat. The Oakwood logo was on the front, I received a letter from Oakwood... I stared at it in awe not sure what to do with it, I was kind of nervous now, the adrenaline rush died down when I realised it was probably just them declining my application. I slowly walked over to the couch and sat down, I gently pulled at a corner carefully peeling the envelope open. I was so scared to find out what the content was blinking a few times before sliding the letter from the now ripped envelope, I opened it up, lifting each corner in a hurried way yet with extreme caution,
Dear Kailey Rellen,
We are pleased to inform you that your application has been assessed with great caution, you are an extremely talented rider and we thank you for wanting to joint the Oakwood Equestrian Academy community. We have decided to shortlist you to a group of 7 people, we invite you for an interview on the 22nd of October, so we can narrow these 10 people to the two who will be given full scholarships to the academy.
Regards,
Headmaster Mrs Cadrock

I got shortlisted... Me, Kailey Rellen got shortlisted. I have an interview to get a full scholar ship to the Oakwood Equestrian Academy!
"Mum, Dad, I got shortlisted!" I screamed through the house, jumping up and down excitedly.
"Oh My Gosh dear congratulations!" My Mum cried hugging me.
"Well done Buddy!" My Dad said proudly, joining our hug.
"I've got to call Ivan, I'm so excited!" I cheered running upstairs to my room with the phone to call my brother.
My brother Ivan and I were extremely close, he was 21 and was currently living at the beach, he was an incredibly talented surfer. Him and Dad went surfing almost every weekend, leaving as soon as Ivan got back from school on the Friday and not coming home until late on Sunday night, we had a beach house a couple of hours away which is where Ivan was now living with some friends. He competed all the time now, travelling around the country entering every competition he could. He rarely came home, and I hardly ever saw him with all his travelling around except we manage to talk a couple of times a week on the phone. He knew every little detail about my try-out to Oakwood and I'm sure he'll be stoked I got shortlisted.
