-Chapter One-

She walked down the street in a quiet manner, the street lights flickering like candles.

"What are you doing out so late?" A young man stepped in front of her, only about three or four years older than her. "A pretty girl like yourself?" Three more guys stepped up behind him.

"Leave her alone, Jacob." One of them, a tall brunette with bright violet eyes stepped forward and put a hand on the first young mans shoulder.

"C'mon, Drake... We're just having a little... FUN." He smirked, flipping his blonde hair behind his ear and two black haired men behind him laughed.

Drake frowned and removed his hand from Jacob's shoulder. The girl shivered slightly, she was only eighteen and in no position to handle three, possibly four adult men.

"What's your name, gorgeous?" One of the black men behind Jacob asked, running a hand down the side of her face.

"Me-Melody." She stuttered, pushing her glasses up her nose.

"Pretty." He growled as his hand trailed down her body and finally reached her butt. "And I'm not even a fan of gingers."

"Please leave me alone." She said, her voice more steady this time. "I'm only eighteen."

"You're legal." Jacob laughed, tugging her red hair out of its glossy pony tail.

"Leave her alone." Drake tried again. "She's just a kid."

"Are you a man, Drake? Cause if you were I think you'd be the first to take her." The other black man said.

"I am man, but I'm sophisticated enough not to rape a teenage girl." He scoffed.

"Then step aside." Jacob growled and shoved him into a pile of garbage bags. He pushed Melody against the brick wall and breathed heavily into her face. She turned her head to the side to escape his alcohol scented breath. A tear slid down her pale cheek.

"Please." She begged.

"Close your eyes." He growled and shoved his lips onto hers. She grunted and tried to push him off her.

"I told you to get the hell off her!" Drake shouted as his fist collided with Jacob's face, knocking him away from Melody. Jacob was caught by the other two men and wiped his bloody mouth before standing up and spitting out a tooth.

"Son of a bitch!" Jacob growled, beginning to charge towards Drake and Melody.

"Run." Drake barked as he grasped Melody's arm and ran down the alley. Melody wanted to cry but she didn't remember how.

"Get back here!" Jacob and the other two men started gaining on them. Drake opened the passenger door of a brand new Mazda 3.

"Get in." He demanded, he didn't wait but forced her in and slammed the door. Then he jumped in the drivers side and sped off, leaving the others in the dust.

"Won't they follow us?" Melody squeaked.

"Can't- I'm the designated driver for tonight." He replied absently as he swerved the dark streets. "Are you alright?" He questioned, not looking her in the eye but furrowing his eyebrows.

"Better, though a bit defiled." Drake chuckled at this.

"Defiled? You must be a virgin."

"As a matter of fact I am... saving myself for marriage." Drake chuckled again. "What's so funny?" She demanded.

"Nothing, it's just that... I am too."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Oh," The car slowed a bit. "Who are those guys and why are you friends with them?"

"Jacob and I have been friends since birth... Rodney and Sam came in college. They're nice guys... just not when they're drunk."

"Oh, well thank you. For saving me from them." She looked him straight in the eye, captivated by their deep purple tint.

"It's really no problem... It's what nice guys do."

"How old are you?" She asked suddenly.

"Twenty-three."

"Oh."

"You say that quite a lot."

"Oh?" She giggled and he laughed his large booming laugh. "Where do you work?"

"My fathers business, he's a lawyer and I'm working on starting my own firm someday."

"My father is a lawyer as well, we just moved here from Nebraska... big change."

"I can see how it would be." He laughed lightly. "Do you have any siblings?"

"An older brother and sister, and a baby sister."

"How old is your younger sister?"

"Two... It came as quiet a shock to us." She gave a sly smile. "My older sister is twenty-two and my brother is nineteen."

"How old was your mother when your oldest sister was born? If you don't find that inappropriate."

"Of course not, she was fifteen."

"Oh."

"See? You say it too!" He smiled at her.

"Where's your house? I can't just drive around all night."

"Turn here and it's the house at the end of this cul de sac." He followed her instructions and found himself in front of a large white house with a single light on in a window.

"Will I see you again?" He asked awkwardly.

"If your asking me out the answer is no," he frowned. "But I'll let you in on a secret." His eyes brightened again. "If it's meant to be, we'll see each other again."

"Goodnight, Melody."

"Goodnight, Drake." She shut the door and ran up to her house. She looked back as she reached the door and saw him waving as he pulled out of the drive.
