"Hey!" I yell as I run up to Landon in the hallway. He turns around and smiles, he has the prettiest smile.

"Hey! Are we still on for seeing a movie tomorrow?" He asks quickly I can tell he is eager by the way he is rubbing his knuckles, a habit I've noticed he's done since we were in the third grade

"ugh, yeah.Sure." I respond.

"okay. Meet me at the park at six tomorrow. We can figure out the movie then." He walks away before I have time to respond. I walk to class and then it hits me, why was he so nervous about asking me about the movie? We go to the movies all the time and he's never acted weird about it before. what was he up to?

The next day, I get to the park a couple minutes early. I was still curious as to why he was so nervous about today. There was no reason for him to be anxious. Also, Landon is really confident so seeing him this way was was very...different.

I see his slighlty curly, auburn hair walking towards the park. I continued to sit on the top of the monkey bars gathering all the self control in me not to tell him I actually may or may not like him more than just a friend. Considering he has a girlfriend that may be just a little bit awkward.

"Catherine!! Get down!" His sudden burst makes me jump.I let out a yelp and practically fall to the ground. He runs to where I am now hanging by one hand, I would say i'm average height for my age but these monkey bars are really tall compared to me and while hanging like this my feet aren't even close to touching the ground. He runs to where i'm now hanging,I let go and land swiftly on my feet.

"What were you doing? You could've fallen and broken a leg!" He sounded genuinly worried. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Landon," I continue to laugh " they're monkey bars. See it says here 'for ages 5 and up' I think I fit that description..by like 11 years." I continue to laugh but he just looks at the ground and mumbles something i barely hear-" I just didn't want you to get hurt."

We then proceed to swing for a couple minutes and as we do we dont realize that and hour has past.

"Guess we'll just skip the movie then." I say while kicking my legs to swing higher.

"Yeah, wanna-" but he's interrupted by his phone. " ughh..."

"what? who is it?" I ask curiously.

"it's Kassie. She wants to hangout. But i'll just tell her i'm busy." He begins to type on his phone and i'm very tempted to just say okay but that annoying little voice in my head nags me to tell him not to.

"Um, no." He looks over, clearly confused. " I mean you should hangout with her. I mean we're not gonna see the movie anyway."

"oh, okay. Well if your not upset with me ditching you. I feel bad for just leaving. Me and Kassie can just hangout another day."

"No, it's okay. I got some math homework to do anyway." I lie.

"okay, if you insist."we stand up at the same time and he gives me a hug bye. "But we are definitely hanging out tomorrow!" He says with a smile and I can't help but smile back.

I watch him walk away.

I guess I'll figure out tomorrow, what he was so nervous about. I think to myself.

I then hear my phone ring,

Come to my house now! Emergency! I'll explain everything when you get here!

-Landon
