Shawn

I sang the last few chords of In My blood while my band continued playing. I took a second to just look out in the crowd as they erupted in screams. I waved and blew a few kisses, I exited the stage and handed my guitar off and found my way back to my dressing room. My manager Andrew was there to greet me,

"Hey nice job out there." He said with a hug "You ready for Japan tomorrow?" Andrew said

"Yeah it'll be fun" I said

"Okay well, we're leaving for the hotel in a bit. I'll come get you." Andrew said with a smile closing the door,

I collapsed on the small couch staring up blankly, I love touring with all my heart but it got exhausting going from city to city and in this case country to country. I was always so drained, after Japan I have a few more stops in Europe then back to Canada for a break.

I pulled out my phone and scrolled through Instagram and Twitter, I saw some tweets from people that attended the show tonight. I always love interacting with my fans, I liked a few tweets then tweeted,

NYC you were amazing! love you xx

After what felt like forever I heard a light knock on the door, Andrew slightly opened it and told me we're about to leave. I gathered my few things and left the dressing room following Andrew through the stadium to get to the car.

New York City traffic was thankfully light at 1 am, we arrived at the hotel and I went straight up to my room, I just wanted to sit and take in the view for a bit, New York is always one of my favourite cities next to Toronto of course. I checked the time and had some how spent the last hour and a half looking over the balcony.

A few hours later I was walking onto the plane, I was not looking forward to this ride. It would be 12 hours long. Thankfully this flight had the big seats, I put my headphones on and scrolled through my Spotify finding a playlist consisting of some of my favourite songs. The plane started to lift off as Under Pressure started playing, I hoped to God that this flight went fast.

My playlist ended and now I was even more bored than before, I pressed on the small screen in front of my seat finding a movie to watch deciding on Lost In Translation. After the movie ended I fell asleep and was woken up by the plane landing, as I opened my eyes I heard the pilot

"Welcome to Tokyo, Japan it's currently 7 pm, and thank you for choosing to fly with us today." A voice said over the intercom

I stepped off the plane, my crew were off to retrieve the bags while Jake let me through the airport to the car. There was a man dressed in a suit and tie with a sign in his hands that said MENDES on it, the man opened my door for me and closed it once I was in.

As we drove through the streets of Tokyo I took in all of the almost blinding lights. New York was packed, but not like this. I've been to Tokyo many times before and every time I'm breath taken by how gorgeous it is. I was amazed how the streets just seemed to go on forever.

The ride seemed to go by quickly, I looked at the time and it was already close to 9: 30 at night. The car pulled up to the hotel, there were some professional looking people waiting for my arrival, as I stepped out I was handed a bottle of Scotch, the man said something in Japanese and bowed to me so I repeated his actions out of respect.

I walked to the front desk,

"Welcome Mr. Mendes, here is your room key. Enjoy your stay." One of the workers said to me pointing to the elevators, I thanked them and walked over.

There was a small crowd forming to get onto the elevator, I was incredibly jet lagged so I just wanted to go to my room and rest.

The next morning I woke up, the time was only 4 am so I figured I'd go down and work out,
I put some shorts and a t shirt on then tied my shoes. As I was leaving I made sure I had my room key and made my way down.

The hotel lobby was super quiet saying it was only 4 am. I put an ear bud in as I walked into the gym, I got on the treadmill deciding a run would be a good start to the workout.
I started thinking about the day and week ahead of me, in two weeks I'd be home in Canada. I had a break today and a show tomorrow, hopefully this week goes by fast.
