Mother Fox trotted along the snow, her plump body making her paw steps look clumsy. Soon, she would have small pups running around her den, if she could find any sanctuary.
She heard the soft snow crunch behind her, and she looked back, her eyes wide with fear. She heard low growling, and mother fox dare not wait any longer. She ran the other direction of the growling, and heard howls and vicious barks closing in behind her.
She panicked, hoping that the wolves wouldn't catch up to her. She turned her head, seeing huge bodies with shades of black, gray, and pure white. Wolves! A pack of wolves! And they're following me! I have to keep going..! She thought to herself.
The wolves would definitely outrun her, since her speed is limited because she can't be too rough on her unborn family.
In the corner of her eyes, she saw a hill of small rocks, with hope she saw that they led to a high ledge.
She jumped across a small river of water, and heard paws splashing on the water just seconds later. Her heart pounded with fear, she longed to be safe. She got closer and closer to the rocks, and pounced. She set her paws on the ledge in time, and the rocks collapsed.
She turned, and saw some of the wolves pawing at the rocks, removing them off their crushed friends. She felt guilty some of the wolves were trapped, crushed under the harshness of rocks in the middle of Winter. She pushed the dreadful thought to the back of her head, she will be a mother now, and it was part of nature to live and to die. She turned and carefully ventured deeper into the forest.

Hours had passed since her encounter with the pack of wolves, she searched, and searched, but she couldn't find a den that she could rest in.
She looked at the beautiful sky, and she lay down, looking deeply at the stars. She saw a shooting star running fast across the sky, and she closed her eyes.
I hope- no. I wish to find shelter. And then she saw something. The closest, brightest stars appeared like a path that were trying to lead her. She jumped on a star, hoping to catch it. But she missed, and saw the star slowly shifting back to the night sky.
It felt like a smaller sun was shining against her pelt, and it felt comforting. She shifted her gaze to the path, and she followed the stars. Everytime she neared them, they would shift back into the sky's pelt, it was beautiful.
She followed until she saw there were no more stars ahead, and only one star remained. She neared, but it wouldn't go. She gently raised a paw, and touched the star.
It will be dangerous... she heard a voice whisper behind her, and she turned. She panicked and realized that the forest was gone. She turned to see the star, but then it turned into a very familiar shape.
Who are you? She kept the question to herself. The familiar shape leaned in, and both their noses touched. She closed her eyes, and opened them again. She was back in the forest, and the star was gone.
She saw a gray-white shape in the corner of her eye, she directed her head to the shape. A lynx! She panicked. But then she saw that the Lynx's pelt was transparent, and plump like hers. Who is this lynx? Is she even real...?
Mother Fox hesitantly padded closer to the Mother Lynx, and she ran a paw through the pelt. She realized that Mother Lynx was looking at her, with beautiful deep green eyes, and she calmed.
Mother Lynx's eyes were like the beautiful green fields of grass, or like the mesmerizing green leaves of trees. Mother Fox saw Mother Lynx starting to pad to a huge tree, and she followed.
She shivered as a cold breeze ran across her pelt, she shook herself, relieving her fur of some specks of snow. She realized that Mother Lynx was ways ahead of her, and she rushed to her side.
Mother Lynx stopped, and so did Mother Fox, but she failed to stop in time and tripped on her paws. Mother Fox shook her face of the cold snow, and she stood up, clearly embarrassed. Mother Lynx seemed to be looking at something, and Mother Fox tried to look at whatever Mother Lynx was seeing.
A den! She thought to herself with relief and excitement. She rushed to the den, but she stopped in her tracks.
She turned around to the Mother Lynx. She dipped her head Thank you... She thought to herself. Mother Lynx seemed to respond, and dipped her head.
Mother Fox heard mewing behind her, and she turned. She saw four kittens, some looked like their mother, and she wasn't sure, so she decided that the rest must've looked like their father. They all ran to their mother, and she looked at Mother Fox, a small smile in the corner of her mouth.
Mother Fox then saw a badger appear behind Mother Lynx, and she saw smaller badgers follow behind her. That must be a mother of five! That's a lot of cubs.. she thought to herself. Mother Badger turned to Mother Lynx, and Mother Lynx nodded. Mother Lynx jumped, though she did not return to the ground. Mother Lynx slowly padded to the sky's pelt, and Mother Badger followed, along with their kits. They kept going until they looked like the brightest stars in the sky.
That'd be me some day... She thought about the small kits with their mother, and she couldn't help but picture herself like that with her unborn cubs. She turned to the den, and padded inside. There, she rested. Darkness was surrounding her gaze, and there, she surrendered to the tiredness filling her body. She was asleep within seconds.

One moon had passed since Mother Lynx had guided her to the tree den, and Mother Fox couldn't be more great full. Mother Fox turned to her belly, looking at the two small bodies dozing near her belly. They were so small and fragile.
One pup looked like her, but his tail almost completely white, and half his ears were white. The other one had her legs and chest completely black, and had some white and black spots speckled across her pelt. They're perfect.. Warmth and pride spread across her pelt.
Mother Fox saw a bright light shining outside her den, there was a star outside her temporary den, and she gently stood to her paws, carefully trying not to wake her pups.
Mother Fox padded to the star, and it turned to a very familiar shape.
There, stood a black wolf with a white mask, legs and tail, her paws were black and her eyes were two different colours. Her left eye was a beautiful purple color, and the other was a deep yellow. It reminded her of sunflowers, or the sun.
This wolf was her spirit guide. She had guided her through dark times. She guided her when she was almost killed by her mother for being the smallest and weakest of the family, a runt.
The wolf stood, and she turned around. She took a few steps, then she turned her head to see if Mother Fox was following. Mother Fox started to follow as soon as she understood what the wolf wanted her to do.
Mother Fox followed the Wolf to a small stream of water. The water was frozen over, but Mother Fox stood where she was.
Behind The Wolf, was a spirit. A beautiful spirit with the color of purple with pink. This spirit had no form, and Mother Fox didn't know what this spirit would have in its part.
Mother Fox looked questioningly at The Wolf, but the wolf dipped her head and slowly faded to just a star, and the star slowly shifted to where it belonged; in the sky.

Somehow, she knew this was another Spirit that possibly would guide her. Was her future with her family really going to be a disaster? If this Spirit guides her the wrong path, it might just be the end of the beginning. She would have to wait patiently.
She must not make one wrong move, or it will be the end of her family's future.
She stared at the form, and could only hope for the best.
