CHAPTER 1:

Let's say that I'm not exactly in the good mood to tell you my story. But, anyway, I gotta confess certain things. So, stop doing whatever you are doing and just listen up.

I take a deep breathe before I get into the training center. Josh was screaming, asking where I was. Finally, I decided to answer his calling, I put my knife in my pocket, and head to his office. I take a look to the training room, today's lesson would be archery as I can see.

Most of the Fortis might be really worried if they were in my place, I'm not feeling that way. I've kick Josh's butt a thousand of times, no matter the fact that he is so much taller than me, I keep winning any fight that he picks on me.

Well, Josh Peterson,  the school's most experimented Young guy has been in hundreds of missions since he was 14, almost my age, not bad for a fool like him. He is strong, not smart.

I knock his door and it opens like someone invisible has just been waiting for me.

"Where had you been, PJ?! I have been looking for you the whole morning!" He screams. When I first get here, when I was really little, his voice made me shake, but now... nah, is just Josh being himself. He has dark messy hair, brown eyes, maybe 6 feet-tall, dark eyes and a serious expression, the first time I got here, I was 9, he was just starting to be a trainner, he was the one who helped me in most part of my adaptation time.

Oh yeah, as you can see he didn't called me Paige, I hate that name, too girly, too fragile. So that's why most people I know call me PJ.

"I was round there, you know, thinking." I say with confidence. "Anyway, what do you want?"

"Agh, we have problems, you Smart Girl. And you don't even care." Josh cross his arms over his chest. "We need that stone of yours, the one that you found last week, while you were murdering birds." He says shaking his head. I laugh. I remember that day, I was really tired because of a 10-hour-long lesson, I scape to the forest, and start to, you know, playing with birds, they are really annoying sometimes.

That stone, too cool for adults to have it. It makes you feel like you are about to throw up, I kind of experimented with Josh yesterday's morning, I placed it next to his coffee cup, his face was green, almost black, it was so disgusting. Yeah, you're right, it was funny.

"The Green one? No way! That stone is so cool!" I say standing up from my sit. "Anyway, why do you need it?"

He clear his throat and take a picture in his hand, he stares at it, and then put it back to his desk. I wonder why does he keep doing that everytime he talks to someone. "School's problems. Remember, everything that you find inside the schools boarders, belongs to the school itself."

I roll my eyes at his comment. He is just too serious for a 23 year old guy. I take a deep breathe and nod with my head. "Whatever, I'm going to give it to you. Can I go now?" I asked.

"Get lost, PJ. Oh, Trace was looking for you." I nod and close the door behind me.

Trace is the most selfish, competitive, jerkish friend you can have, yet the most loyal and supportive one. My last conversation with him was two days ago. Let's say that the school doesn't let girls and boys have normal kind of friendships  together. Another thing,  you can't date someone that belongs to the school, it would be weird. When we first arrive here, they forced us to make a kind of oath. The Oath of Relatives. It says that we are all like siblings, we should protect each other, we cannot fight under silly reasons, and we cannot date our classmates. Ad long as you're in the school, we cannot date Non-Fortis people.

I was 9 when I made the oath, but when you swear it, you just can't take the words out of your mind.

Blood shall run in the Powerful River if I break this oath.
