Melanie's POV

I ran as fast as I could down the sidewalk. I couldn't be late for the costume party Lisa's throwing. My friends and I are dressing up as sandwich toppings.

Creative I know.

I am currently a tomato and this costume is quite uncomfortable. It's getting a bit stuffy and I have a deep wedgie I can't reach.

I reach the party and to my surprise my friends were there...but not as toppings, but dressed in regular, and by regular, I mean better looking costumes.

Everyone stared as if they'd seen a ghost. Laughter burst throughout the room. I was embarrassed, better yet, humiliated.

"What are you guys wearing?" I ask my former friends. Yes former, because I don't think I can forgive them for this.

"Sorry Mel, but Lisa texted us to wear something else. Didn't you get it?"

"No I didn't." I look over at Lisa who seems to have a permanent smirk on her face.

"Oops, I guess I forgot. Or, maybe I only invited you because your friends said they wouldn't come." The tone of her voice was anything but apologetic.

"Is that true?" I look back over. They all nodded sadly.

I didn't know whether to be confused, upset, sad, angry or maybe all four at once. A single tear slips out of my eye.

"Aww is little Melanie crying? Such a big heart for a scrawny little girl." Lisa snickers in triumph.

Everyone continues laughing. Some were whispering and pointing fingers. I felt like crap. So I ran. I ran as fast as my legs could take me. I ran until I reached my house. I ran up the stairs to my room and cried. I cried and cried until there was no water left.

I go downstairs to fix a bowl of ice cream. Luckily my parents are out of town for a couple of months so I can mope around all by myself.

I watch pitch perfect for about thirty minutes until there was a knock on the door. Through the peep hole, I see the people who I least likely wanted to at the moment. All of my so called friends were standing at the the door in those stupid costumes they didn't tell me about.

I really didn't feel like conversing with anyone so I totally ignored their constant shouts for me to open up. I go upstairs to shower and get ready for bed.

Before I get to sleep, I check twitter to see if I had any recent activity. Nope, not at all. Of course I don't. I mean, I'm not that popular. I log off and get some shut eye.

*Beep beep be-*
I shut off my alarm clock and roll out of my bed . Today was Thursday which means today I have school. I quickly shower and brush my teeth. I decide on wearing some black sweatpants, a black sweater, and some red converses with a red headband. I don't like to expose my body that much because it's not really...the best. I tie my hair into a high ponytail and grabbed my bag.

I run downstairs and get into my car.
"Another day of school." I mumble.

I pull up to the school and head straight to math. To my surprise, I was one of the first people in class. The bell finally rang and everyone came rushing in. I totally forgot that my so called best friend Alyssa was in this period. I didn't feel like talking about the other day so I figured I would just ignore her. But that thought backfired.

" Psst, Melanie, Melanie I need to talk to you."

I continue to ignore her and try to pay attention to what Mr. Bennett was saying.
