Daryl and Avery walked into camp to see everyone doing something, except Lori. Lori was just sitting there on the log in front of the fire. Andrea sat by her dead sister. Dale was on watch and everyone else was taking care of the dead bodies.
‘We should start helpin’.’ Avery told Daryl who nodded his head. Daryl grabbed a pick axe and Avery pulled out her big hunting knife. They both started to stab every walker in the head and go to the next one. Then someone would drag the bodies over to the fire or the pile to bury.
‘Aves?’ Someone called her name. She turned around to see Daryl standing a few feet away from her. Avery wasn’t short, maybe two inches shorter than Daryl, but he had his hands on top of the pick axe then his chin resting on his hands. He was looking up at her, she looked down at him. She really took in his appearance for the first time. Electric baby blue eyes, short light brown hair, his muscles on his arms were defined and his light pink lips.
‘Yes?’ She asked him. He looked at her and licked his lips ever so slightly.
‘You’ve been standin’ there for five minutes now.’ He informed her, standing up straight and walking over to her. ‘Whatcha thinkin’ about?’ He was right in front of her, their bodies almost touching.
‘N-nothin’…’ She whispered and looked from his eyes to his lips. He looked from her eyes down to her lips and back to her eyes. They both started to lean in, now their lips were only a centimeter apart.
‘A walker got him! A walker got Jim!’ They both jumped apart and ran towards the scream. Daryl pushed Avery slightly behind him.
‘Show it to us!’ Daryl demanded walking closer to Jim.
‘I’m okay… I’m okay…’ Jim mumbled, picking up the shovel lying next to him.
‘Grab ‘em!!’ Daryl screamed at T-Dog that was behind Jim. T-Dog ran up, grabbing Jim’s arms; making Jim drop the shovel. Daryl ran up and pulled Jim’s shirt up; revealing a walker bit on Jim’s torso. Daryl and T-Dog backed away from Jim as he kept mumbling that he was okay.

‘I say we put a pix axe in his brain and the dead girl’s and be done with it.’ Daryl huffed at Rick and Shane.
‘Is that what you would want if it was you?’ Shane countered.
‘Yeah. And I’d thank ye while ye did it.’ He told Shane. Avery just stood off to the side, not having much to say.
‘I never thought I’d say it, but maybe Daryl’s right.’ Dale threw in his two cents.
‘He’s not a rabid dog Dale.’ Rick told the older man. ‘Now I heard they were working on a cure at the CDC…’
‘I heard a lot of things before the world went to shit Rick.’ Avery cut in. ‘If they had a cure don’t ye think we’d all be at home?’
‘Avery.’ Rick warned. Rick took care of Avery for almost three years before their dad came home.
‘While ye go look for some aspirin, someone needs the balls to do what needs to be done ‘round ‘ere!’ Daryl screamed and ran at Jim with the pick axe. Rick drew his gun and cocked it making Daryl stop in his tracks.
‘We don’t kill the living.’ Rick growled.
‘That’s funny comin’ from the man that just put a gun to my head.’ Daryl threw the pick axe down and stomped off somewhere else.

Avery woke up around noon the next day. She knew that they were heading to CDC today. She looked around her tent to see everything packed up and ready. She walked out of the tent and stretched before lighting a cigarette and taking the tent down.
‘Yer ridin’ with me.’ Daryl said from behind Avery making her jump and turn around.
‘Jesus Christ ye fuckin’ scared me Dare. Don’t do that!’ Avery playfully slapped his arm.
‘Ow! Abuse!’ Daryl yelled, but had a smile on his face.
‘Oh Shut up stupid.’ Avery laughed.

It was getting dark outside and they just made it to the CDC. The RV broke down and Jim wanted to be left on the side of the road.
They were all walking up to the CDC that was surrounded by dead bodies. Half of them being soldiers and half were just people. The smell of the bodies was overwhelming and made most of the females and kids gag and the males cough. Daryl had Avery right in front of him; keeping her safe.
They made it to the doors and the shutters were down. It looked empty from the outside but Rick thought different.
‘You lead us to a dead end!’ Daryl screamed walking up to Rick.
‘He made a call!’ Shane screamed back, defending his friend.
‘Well it was the wrong damn call!’ Avery grabbed ahold of Daryl’s hand and pulled him back before they could say anymore on the subject. They were all about to just leave because walkers were closing in on them.
‘The camera. It moved!’ Rick shouted. Everyone kept telling him that he was imagining it but he thought different. ‘We have women! Children! No food! No gas! YOU’RE KILLING US!’ Rick screamed at the camera. Just as everyone started for the car, the shutters came up and everyone was blinded by the light for a few seconds.
