I lifted my head to the tile ramp leading to my new school and took a breath. I had chosen to walk to my new school, as I wanted to think. I knew that I had been sent here to protect my mom from blackmail, but this still felt ridiculous. At least if I was still going to Sora for my second semester, I would have friends who would have my back. I sighed as I took my last step up the hill, at least Kai would be watching over everyone for me; but, I still wished I could curl into a ball, and freak out a little, Like at Sora. When I stepped up to gate, I felt a coldness, a darkness that seemed to shroud the students and faculty. I shuttered a bit, this was the same feeling I got when entering Sora the first time. "Ok," I mumbled carefully adjusting my book bag,"This makes things different..."
I quietly walked around looking for my locker, and, when I found it, I saw a girls picture on it. She had long orange hair, and looked relatively nice. I sighed, and muttered,"You can't be the only reason for all this, though I can assume you've passed. I left the picture there out of respect, and opened my new locker. I saw some manga, and a small figurine. "Magical Girl Pretty Miyuki," I said calmly,"She had good taste."
"Are you the new girl who's taking Osana's locker?" Asked a kind and scared male voice.
I turned to face a plain looking boy with jet black hair, he looked like at one point he was normal, kind, and patient. I nodded,"Yeah, but I plan to leave her stuff in here. I'd rather respect the dead."
"Taro sweetie!" Cried an overly happy girl,"Are you talking to the new girl?"
Taro seemed to freeze before saying,"Heh, No Ayano. I was just checking on stuff over here."
I cocked an eyebrow at this interaction, as Ayano seemed to send Taro in a different direction. "Is everything ok?" I asked her, as Taro left.
Ayano nodded curtly, and seemed to be giving me a dirty look,"Yes, and what were your intentions with him?"
I shook my head,"n-nothing. He was just asking about my locker. I don't have any interest in him, I just met the guy."
Ayano gave me a shifty gaze, before nodding and leaving. Though she kept a gaze on me, as if to warn me to stay away from Taro. "Well she's protective of him," I grumbled while carefully putting the rest of my stuff away.
I shook my head in slight frustration, she targeted me immediately, and if that wasn't bad enough, I still had a lot on my mind. The annoyance faded quickly, as I focused on trying to find the gym. It wasn't until I saw a few kids walk towards the gym that I was able to find it. When I got into the gym, I noticed it was set up for an orientation style assembly. Everyone was sitting in a seat with their names on them. I took a guess that it was by last name, so I went in search of the r section. I found it without too much difficulty, and sat down, I was waiting for the speakers too be done shortly after that. During the announcements, and talk about the rules of the school. A few thoughts crossed my mind. My wishes to hide my head in my knees, and my yearning to help my new fellow students battling with each other in my head. I was barely focused enough to take note of the rules, the fact I could explore while others mourned the loss of friends, and that Headmistress Genka, would be in her office if anyone needed her. When we were dismissed, I decided to explore the halls of Akademi High. I did this at Sora on my first day, and since they were repeating first semester due to the tradgies of that semester dropping grades. I traced the walls with my eyes, trying to memorize every poster, door, and sign. Then I heard something, I heard someone grunt in pain, followed by feminine laughter. I bit my bottom lip remembering that I promised my mom I wouldn't start a fight on my first day. Then my eyes cast down to the dog tags my dad left me with on the day he died. "I'm not starting the fight," I mumbled,"I'm just protecting someone."
With my motives justified, I sped up my walk, while keeping my foot falls as silent as possible. I opened my phone upon rounding the corner, and set it to record for evidence. At the end of one of the halls on the second floor by the bathrooms were a group of girls with dark skin, and bleach blonde hair. They were standing around a boy with salmon pink hair and eyes, while kicking him. "And I thought all boys were strong," teased the lead girl, causing evil laughter from all off them.
"P-please stop," the boy said weakly,"I promise, I won't say anything, I'll do whatever you want."
I had seen enough, as the lead girl thought of something humiliating for him to do, I cleared my throat, turning their collective attention to me. "Is something going on here, or am I just imagining a group of bratty little girls beating up on some defenseless kid?"
The main girl walked up to me before handing me 20 yen, and saying,"I'm pretty sure you didn't see anything."
The other girls laughed, so sure that their leaders plan would work, but I wasn't done yet. "I'm sorry sweetie," I spoke sarcastically,"What's your name?"
The girl stared at me, surprised I hadn't left yet, but smiled sweetly,"I'm Musememe Ronshaku, and I'm the last person you want to mess with honey..."
I wasn't scared of her threats, she would be easy to defend myself against. I shook my head, looking at the boy she and her gang was beating up. "No," I said confidently throwing her money across the floor towards her gang,"You're the first. Keep your damn money."
I walked right past her, and went to go help the boy up. Then I heard a yell from behind me, so I turned around, faced Musememe, and blocked her punch, before pinning her to the floor. The other girls in the group seemed to freak, squealing the moment she was stopped and pinned to the floor. With my knee on her arms, and back, I said through grit teeth,"Listen Ronshaku! To put things into context, in reality, I'm the last person you want to mess with! So if you want up, when you get up, you and your goons leave...got it...!"
She nodded, and I let her get up. She stumbled a bit, getting her friends to come along, and saying,"This isn't over brat!"
I glared back at them, causing them to run, phones in hand. I sighed, hating that I had to do that in front of this kid. He seemed like he was having trouble standing, so I calmly walked over. He looked at me with slight fear so I sighed,"Sorry you had too see me like that, are you ok?"
The boy stared at me in confusion before nodded abruptly, and speedily,"Y-y-yeah! I'm fine! It's no biggie!" He squeaked.
I almost laughed, but I held it together,"Hey, you don't have to be afraid of me, I don't want to hurt you, I promise."
"T-then what was-" he started to ask me worriedly, before I answered.
"I didn't want to fight her, but I also didn't want you to get beat up by them either. Now, do you want help to the infirmary?" I replied, earning a smile from him.
He finally nodded,"Sure!"
I wasn't sure what else was going to happen today at school, but something told me, that things were about to get interesting. As I helped him to the nurses, I grabbed my cellphone stopping the recording...
