In 1952 a spaceship from the planet Erynite landed in West Virginia. Since then there have been numerous sightings of what has become known as the Mothman. These creatures made elegant homes for themselves in the abandon coal mines deep beneath the earth. I discovered the truth about them while working in my profession, and I want to share what I've learned with you my dear reader.

My name is Carol, and I work selling real estate in the Morgantown area of West Virginia. I've seen some intriguing and peculiar things in my line of work, but nothing I've ever encountered in my fifteen year career or for that matter my entire life can compare to the astonishing sequence of events that I'm about to disclose to you.

The company I work for is Raggs to Riches Realty, LLC. BB Raggs is the broker/owner of the company, and for the most part, BB has been a wonderful boss and a good friend, but when BB's husband passed away two years ago, a series of events occurred which have forever changed our lives.

It began when BB, motivated by her grief, sold the Victorian style house she and her husband had shared for the past twenty years and instead bought a dilapidated farmhouse on 50 acres in an isolated part of Preston County. BB had always lived in town, and she knew nothing about managing a farm. As you can imagine, such a drastic change at a vulnerable time in her life caused BB a great deal of turmoil. To add to her dilemma, BB was in a precarious financial situation because not only did she exceed her budget in purchasing the farm, she also spent over three hundred thousand dollars remodeling the house, building both a barn and a garage, and buying three expensive Tennessee Walking horses.
BB's financial predicament troubled her, and she worked every day, seven days a week, to remedy the problem. She's always been a hard worker, but the continuous real estate work on top of the overwhelming amount of farm chores she had to do, was just too much for her. As winter grew closer the situation became dire. BB's farm was at a higher elevation than town, so when we would get four inches of snow, BB would get twenty-four inches. It was during the first heavy snow of the season that BB admitted defeat and told me when spring came, she was going to sell the farm and move back to town. BB was at this time an emotional, physical, and mental wreck. Even her hair, which once was thick and full and a lovely chestnut brown color, turned to an unattractive shade of yellowy gray and began to fall out in clumps. Poor BB was a broken woman and a mere shadow of her former self.

Then as quick and furious as a clap of thunder there was a miraculous change in BB's life. Her financial woes ended, and she had money to pay off all the debt she had incurred. The chores on the farm were done, the animals were well cared for, and the house was clean and organized. BB was restored to her former indomitable self, and her vigor for country living was renewed. She looked years younger over night, and her hair was more glorious than it had ever been in her life. Her heart was filled with love for her country home, and she relished every moment she spent there. In fact, she was so taken with her rural property, she closed our real estate office in Morgantown and made a space in her farmhouse for an office there.
