I was heading to school driving in my truck. I was driving past the dark green trees, zooming past making the trees look like a blur. While driving, something caught my eye. It, was a sparkling object. It seemed to reflect the sun like a mirror. Living in Phoenix, we had plenty of sun. I saw it almost like it was following following my truck. I just ignored it. Chances were it was just my it was just my imagination running away from me. The nightmare from this morning was probably the cause of the alucination. So I decided to ignore it.

............................................

I arrived at school, very early due to me skipping breakfast. I had nothing to do but sit in my truck and think.  Something I didn't want to do. Knowing myself I would probably think the worst of the situation I feel that is rising.

So I just got off my truck and decided to walk around and find a spot to sit and review my notes for class. Hopefully it would get my mind off of things. As I was walking I unconsciously drifted off into the park nearby. There were many early rising people jogging around. I headed toward the part of the park that was over populated with trees  that provided a nice shade.

There was a secret medow only me and my parents knew about. We used to have picnics here when I was little.

I headed deeper were I douted anybody would see me. I sat on a log and took out my notes to review. But I couldn't concentrate. Looking down at my notebook I began doodleling random lines in the margin. I heard a crunch of a footstep

"Who's there?" I said slightly panicking.

I heard no answer . Yet I kept hearing those creeping, crunching footsteps.

I quickly packed my notebook in my backpack. I stood up and grabbed my backpack ready to use it as a weapon if I could, but the chances were very slim.

I heard another crunch. This time it was right behind me. I froze. Whoever it was, they were close enough to kill me now. That is, if that was their goal.

I turned around, no one was there. As I turned back to keep walking, I swear I saw a white flash just like when I was driving to school. This time I saw it up close with more detail. Its shape that was tall enough to be a person. My heart was beating faster than I ever knew it could go.

I ran all the way back to campus. By this time most people were already here waiting for the bell to ring in a couple of minutes. I headed for my first class still feeling startled from my encounter in the park.

"It was just my imagination running away from me" I repeatadly whispered to myself as convingsingly, trying to lie to myself. Too bad I was a bad liar.

.............................................

I went through the day feeling nervous, and on the edge. I was driving home, looking all around. I guess I was in paranoid I was going to see the white flash again. I kept driving home. When I got home I saw my mom cooking. Looking very worried.

"What's wrong mom?" I asked her.

"Nothing I just have a head ache" I could tell she was lying. That's the excuse I always make when I don't want to tell her something. She was always a very bad liar. Well its like they say, like mother, like daughter. But I just went with it. If it was important I know she would tell me.

"Oh hope you feel better" I said as I headed upstairs to enter my room.

I heard a phone ringing downstairs. You can hear every conversation that was being said because of the thin walls.

"Hello?" I heard my mom say.

"What? Are sure its him" I heard muffled sobs coming from the living room. I took the phone from my moms hand

"Hello? What happened why is my mother crying?"

"Well I'm sorry to say this but Police Chief Swan was found dead in the park near a high school in a hidden medow.". I froze, that was the exact place where I was before school started. There can't be another meadow hidden just like that one.

"It looks like he was murdered by a wild animal."

I hung up, I didn't want to know any more. I had a feeling that it was that white flash I saw that murdered my father. What else could it be? How could they think it was a wild animal for god sake! It was in the middle of a park in Phoenix.

I wish I had a chance to say goodbye, now he's gone forever. I felt hot tears stream a river down my face.
