'Not so fast Angel!' Fluttershy squeaked.
Angel glared back at his new owner and poked his tongue out before continuing to hop to their destination.
Fluttershy chuckled lightly, Angel was one stubborn bunny and really didn't live up to his name, but she wouldn't trade her furry friend for anything in the world. In all honesty, Fluttershy had been quite surprised when her parents had presented her with Angel the week prior. Although she begged, pleaded and gave puppy eyes, her parents had seemed extremely reluctant and would always give her excuses that meant 'no'. Such as 'Maybe when your older sweetheart' or 'How about you make some friends first dear?'. Then on Sunday the previous week, her parents had surprised Fluttershy with a mischievous rabbit. Of course she'd been slightly curious by her parents' change of heart, but she didn't spend too long pondering on it because Angel made her very happy.
Ever since she could remember, Fluttershy had always found comfort in critters. She had never owned a pet before Angel, but she would feed the stray dogs and cats that usually hung around her neighborhood and make little dens out of bark for bugs and to gather in her backyard. Growing up, Fluttershy struggled to make friends, and often found herself turning to animals because unlike other kids, they were loving and understanding. She was sure lots of people liked animals, but she felt as though she had a connection to them, that she truly understood them, and vice versa.
Noticing Angel had stopped hopping, Fluttershy slowly glanced up and eyed the tall gates of Canterlot City Park. She suddenly felt very small. Fluttershy hastily picked up Angel and squeezed onto him tightly, much to Angel's disapproval. Quietly, the shy girl snuck a peak through one of the gate bars, hoping the park wasn't too occupied. Much to her despair, it couldn't have been more full. Fluttershy scanned around to see if there was a more secluded area, but everywhere she looked, there were kids.
Fluttershy gulped.
The downside of owning an active pet meant that they needed fresh air. Fluttershy would've preferred to just let Angel run around in her backyard, but her parents had insisted she take unruly Angel to the local park. She didn't dare voice her thoughts, but Fluttershy knew that this was another typical strategy of her parents' to get her to be social and makes friends. She thought that maybe that was the reason why they had agreed to let her have a pet.
'Ouch!' Fluttershy yelped. She felt a small scratch.
Peering in her arms, Angel was wriggling uncomfortably and gave a very irritated look. Fluttershy suspected she had been squeezing onto him a little too much so loosened her grip, she also knew that her little bunny was waiting to have some freedom at the park.
With a shaky sigh, Fluttershy reminded herself to breathe and that she was doing this for Angel, she didn't have to talk to anyone.
'Sorry to keep you waiting Angel, let's go in now' she said.
Fluttershy had settled comfortably against a large oak tree and stroked Angel's delicate fur, humming to herself. The location would've been perfect if it weren't so close to the kids playing soccer, Fluttershy was worried the ball might come in her direction and possibly hit her or Angel. Said bunny, was bored of sitting around on his owner's lap and jumped out of her lap to hop towards the sandpit which was near a basketball court.
