Fridays. Fridays are pretty bad. I know for you it might not be. School is over, weekend comes, free time, friends and of course family. Family. It seems pretty good. But for me Fridays are the worst that could happen to me. I hate weekends. Family. What is a family? A basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, that is the definition. Related people living together, laughing together, fighting together, eating together… Well that is not always true! I know this seems strange to you but it all comes together and makes sense in the end. I am sorry I should have said this earlier, I am Lilly, 14 teen years old living in the countryside of London. Well this is what most people would like to know. If you’re interested who I am then keep reading. I have 2 brothers a dad and a mom. That sounds normal, doesn’t it? A family. A normal family. That is what my mother always tells me. “WE ARE A FAMILY” My two brothers are 7 and 10 they have the same opinion as my mother. “WE ARE A FAMILY” My dad? Yeah he doesn’t talk to me. So again to the Fridays. My dad comes home on Friday night. Instead of kissing my mom and all that stuff, he comes to me. What he does? He is coming into my room, grabbing me, holding me. He pushes me, I don’t even defend myself anymore. It is a Friday night ritual. He does that since I am 11.Three years now. 156 Fridays. You don’t understand? I do! Well enough. That feeling of anger in his face while holding me. That feeling of: “ I can’t anymore, Please stop, I can’t, I am to young, stop it!” YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND? Well I do. Well enough. Now you ask yourself why I do nothing about it? It is to late! It became a ritual now.  He is scary and he needs help, but he is still my father, my dad. My mother? She knows, well enough. My 2 brothers? They know, well enough. Yet their opinion is still: “We are a family.”. And that is what society calls family? That is what you call family?  Don’t look into people’s faces, look at what’s hiding underneath!
