Chapter Three

Mitch POV

For some reason, I have returned to my original position in the auction room, my legs moved my heart is telling me yes and my head, well it thinks I'm crazy, I don't know this girl? Blake caught on to the fact that I wasn't leaving anymore and seems to be smirking whilst walking towards me.

"Can you tell me why we are back here watching the auction, seen some sense or someone you like?" great he's finding this amusing, not sure what to tell him, "I was just curious" he's staring at me "about what?" "It's nothing really?" I don't like that jerk in front but how do I explain?

"I know you fancy a girl and fighting with your inner self whether to bid or not?" That smirk is still on his face, "no, it's not like, well, it's different" "you're not making much sense, why don't you just tell me what the real reason is" he will not stop until I tell him.

"OK, long story short, I was in the men's room when I overheard a conversation with a group of guys, they were talking about a girl, that one of the men was going to bid on, well he using this I will bid on you, knight in shining act for her to lose her virginity to him, I just felt sorry for her and when we we're leaving, they announced her name and I just had to look at her, these big eyes stared back at me, she looked scared and part of me wanted to stop him, even though I don't even know her? "this sounds crazy" please tell me to regain my senses"

saying it out loud makes me realize what I'm doing, then I look at my best friend, He's taking back, "this is surprising, but you have a good instinct when you meet people for the first time and the guy sounds a douche, but what are going to do? are you willing to go all the way and bid?

"I'm not sure" is all I can say.
"tell me which girl?" can't he see her, she's the one that stands out the most, the only one I can see on the stage, "the one with the red dress" he grins at me "yeah, yeah there all wearing red dresses?" I look back at the stage, and he's right, why didn't I notice this before "I didn't mean it like that, I just saw her in red" which was true, I need to question myself but I don't want too, I'm frightened what the answer might be.

"Oh wow, I think you like her, you should bid on her and you will be the knight saving her from the douche and have an evening with this hot damsel" trust him to come back with this.

"It's not like that? You see the last girl on the end of the stage, her name is Colleen that's the girl" Blake stares at her "she's a beauty? I can see why she has taking your fancy, she has this innocence aura about her" I look at her again, she is beautiful but it's more than that, her features are soft and kind, she needs protecting from him, but I'm not the one to do it?

"maybe I should just leave?"
"No" "not at least till you tell me who the douche is? I signal with my head to the group of men in front of us, the one had his paddle up bidding already "see the one that just bid on a blonde girl" it's his friend the one with the pink shirt, his name is Darius?"

Blake looked at the group of men, they were laughing enjoying themselves, pointing at the different girls like it was a day at the cattle market. He looks at me "you can't let him win?" your meant to tell me I'm making a mistake "what?" Is all I can say, "just seeing them makes my skin crawl? "But?"

What should I do, I'm weighing up the pros and cons like if it was a business meeting, if I bid I'm saving her from an evening with him and I can be on my way like nothing's happened, the money isn't the issue, if I leave and Darius has his way, well he will have his paws all over her, why should I care, let's have a reality check, people make mistakes and she was a big girl, with all my mental rambling I didn't realize the auction was coming to the end, Blake hasn't spoken and just watching the men in front of us.
