I ended up sliding down into the hole. Which wasn't terrible, for me, my legs .. well I'm pretty sure they have the biggest mud bath of all time and so does my side as the dirt slides away do to rain.
The butterfly continued to flutter as I heard humming come from the distance. I track down the humming as I enter another hole.
The butterfly vanishes As I come out the other end, everything expands and I see a small door held in place by a wall of dirt and moss.
Vines and tree roots tangled the earth as I walked closer to it.
In the door window, a small red flame glew dimly as I proceed to open it.
It was soft only creaking slightly when I expanded it further.
The humming stopped only to start up again moments later.
As I walk in I enter a narrow hallway almost tunnel like as it was made entirely out of wood. Makeshift as the wooden blocks were held together by hardened mud as some pieces appeared bigger than others.
I continue to walk carefully forward as I remove the small flame from the window and take it with me as I press on.
I wasn't alone I knew this. I felt something behind me but was to afraid to turn around as I move further. It smells of mildew and iron steel as I go on into the darkness.
I did not know what was waiting for me ahead but I prayed it was better than what lie waiting for me if I returned. By now, I hope the fox thinks I'm long gone or dead so he won't come looking for me.
I follow the humming to the end of the hall and down a flight of steps. At this point the red glittering butterfly reappears leading the way until we get to a broad entrance littered with dim red lit lanterns on the ceiling.
It was no longer makeshift as the walls and floor were littered in smooth wood flooring.
I could hear dripping as I look down, my clothes were dripping steady.
I see a tall figure towering at six feet as it was surrounded almost swarmed with the red insect. Long black hair flowed down their back as they were covered in thin sheer velvet cloths I soon came to realize was a kimono upon stepping closer.
Drip drip filled the air along with the humming, that sound.
Once I do this however, the humming stops and I see the figure shift their head.
"I see, you brought a little friend with you? You never seem to surprise me huh? Always bringing back friends. But, I suppose it can't be helped." The voice was feminine and light with a small crackle uneasily in the mix.
I realize they werent talking to me but the butterfly beside me as it fluttered towards the figure.
"Well? You must be hungry? And wet? Please, it's rude to not take care of company properly."
The figure adds the finishing touches to something before motioning me to follow down another hallway.
We end up in a large living space covered with tatami mats as a small table lay in the center.
The figure turns on a bright yellow lantern as it lights the room and I can fully see the face as they place the plate down.
It was a woman. Her face was painted snow white as it was accompanied with other sharp and beautiful colors. But the main one that stood out was her red eye makeup and red lips.
She was pretty and almost looked doll like as she moved gracefully and the butterflies follow. Her sheer kimono had little red flowers embroidered into the fabric as her revealing pasty skin shined translucent in the clothing.
