The odd morning
Ida woke up, sweating. She couldn't remember what had made her so scared. She felt different that morning. She shrugged her shoulders, taking the bed covers off of her.
"Honey, breakfast is ready!"
Her mother called her from downstairs.
"I'll be there in a sec, mom!"
She said as she leapt off the bed. She quickly got dressed and walked downstairs. Her mother was waitng with a plate of pancakes and scrambled eggs. Her mother smiled. "Good morning Ida, did you sleep well?" She asked. Ida shrugged, taking the plate from her mother's hands. She took the plate to the table and started eating.
"Did you have any dreams that bothered you?" Her mother asked. Ida swallowed and replied, "I don't know.." Her mother nodded. "That's fine dear, just asking." She was silent for a moment before saying, "Well, your birthday is coming up. Have you figured out what you want to do for your party yet?" She asked.
Ida swallowed another bite and said, "No.. I'll make plans later today." Her mother nodded. "I'll be right back, I need to run some errands. You'll be okay here by yourself for a few, won't you?" She asked. Ida nodded. "Mom, I'm about to be fifteen, I'll be fine." She said, reassuring her mother. -Reassuring, it means trying to remove her doubts, or fears.-
Her mother nodded. "Alright, be back soon!" She said as she walke up to the front door, opening it and stepping outside. Ida sighed. 'Now what?'
Suddenly, her phone started ringing from upstairs. Ida jumped up, leaving behind her unfinished meal.
