I slam the door shut with a loud bang that echoes back from the walls. I rush to my bed to reach under it to grab for any suitcase that got to my hands. I throw it on my bed and turn around to rip open the closet door and put any clothes in the bag that I could find. When the bag is finally full, I try to close it but it fights me with stubborn resistance. I tug at the zipper but it wouldn't move one bit.
Why won't you close, goddamit! Stupid old bag!
"Crystal!", I suddenly hear a drunk voice shout from downstairs, which makes my skin crawl and my hands shake uncontrollably. I begin to pull at the zipper with violence, when after a while it finally gave in. I walk to the door to take my leather jacket and leave, but unexpectedly I hear loud heavily knocks coming from precisely that door."Crystal, are you in there? Come on, I know you're here somewhere. I won't hurt you, honey", he said in a raspy voice, which was caused by the whiskey he drank just a few hours ago. I shudder and try to lock the door, but it seems impossible with my shakey hands and it feels like eternity until i finally lock it. I throw the key in a corner, he had no other way to enter this room. He jolts at the door handle with no success and as he notices that, he punches the door. In my ears it seems incredibly loud and noisy."Open the fucking door, Crystal!", I hear him scream desperately. I notice that I held my breath the whole time and gasp for air. My eyes search for another way out and for a second I thought, I wouldn't get out of here. But I realize that there is a window across the room and I almost laugh at my stupidity.
How come, I didn't think of that earlier?
I run to the window and unlock the bar and pulled the window wide open. I look down and my anxiety kicks in again, I remember that I was on the second floor.
That's really fucking high. Should i really risk it and jump?
I hear his loud voice again and conclude that I have no other choice. I take the suitcase and climb on the windowsill and start becoming dizzy of looking down. I look at the door and see how it starts to open a little bit because of his body slamming against it. I throw the bag out and hear it landing on the dirty floor. When the door cracked open and his widened red eyes, which were actually beautifully hazel and green, and his opened red voluptuous lips, look at me, I jumped out of the window too. First it felt like flying but then my body hit the hard floor and I groaned of pain."Crys!", he calls from the window and I look into his eyes a last time to see pain, anger, fear, sadness and despair all at once, which was overwhelming. I break the eye contact and start collecting my things."Crys, where do you think you're going?", he asks me with anger which should cover up his desperation."Where you can't find me, asshole!", I shout at him. He freezes and is in complete shock, realizing how bad he fucked up. He gets out of his trance of staring at me and begins to panic, I could clearly see it in his eyes. It's strange how you can see so much in someones eyes, so much of his soul."I will find you! You hear me, Crys? I WILL find you!", he screamed with all his voice.
"Goodbye, Ethan."
