15: "shawn mendes told me i had to"

~•~Elena's POV~•~

"LENA MY LIFE IS OVER." Jo cries over the phone. She has Shawn Mendes tickets for his concert this weekend that we were supposed to go to. Her dad wouldn't let her buy tickets, so she entered a giveaway for some and miraculously won. Unfortunately, her dad found the tickets in her room and are now holding her hostage. "LOOK, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TICKETS AND GET VIDEOS OF EVERYTHING FOR ME. EVERYTHING."

"Ok, Jo, I will I promise, just calm down."

"Ok, ok, ok." She says slowly as she breathes in and out.

"Who am I supposed to go with?"

"Caleb, I guess."

"Jo, are you kidding? You know he would never voluntarily be surrounded by a bunch of screaming teenage girls."

"Which is weird. I mean, as a teen boy, you'd think he'd want to be around teen girls. Just saying."

He does, as long as the girl is you, I think to myself.

"Ok, I'll figure out someone to bring. Just calm down, okay?" We say bye to each other and I hang up. I go to Messages and scroll through all of the people who would possibly want to go to a Shawn Mendes concert with me. I see Alex's name. There's no way he would want to go with me. But I give it a shot.

me: hey.. I have a weird question

Alex: what's up?

me: so jo had tickets for shawn mendes' concert this Saturday but her parents aren't letting her go and she gave them to me and idk who else to bring. you up for it? It's totally ok if not

Alex: I mean why not. I'll take free concert tickets anytime.

me: ok cool. pick me up on Saturday at 4:30, we have an hour long drive and I want to get there early.

On Saturday, I'm wearing a black t- shirt with high waisted skinny jeans and black vans. When Alex texts me that's he's at my house, I grab my phone and head out the door. Luckily, my dad isn't home to pester me about where I'm going. I get into the car with Alex and he picks up his phone.

"So, what's it gonna be?" He asks.

"What do you mean?"

"What music are we gonna listen to for our hour long road trip?"

"Shawn mendes, obviously!" I grab his phone and search up a Shawn Mendes set list on Apple Music. I shuffle it. Alex starts the car as There's Nothing Holding Me Back comes on and we start to sing.

One hour later, we arrive at the venue and find a place to park. As we are walking in, Alex looks around nervously.

"You okay?" I ask.

"All good, just intimidated by the amount of teenage girls here."

I laugh as we walk through the doors. After getting through security, we find our seats. We are sitting to the left, if you're looking at the stage, on the lower level above the floor. We are pretty close. Jo would've been so excited. I feel bad. I take a picture of the flower decoration in the middle of the room and send it to her.

me:

me: wish you were here!!

Jo: me too :/ that flower looks so pretty! Have the best time and make out with Alex during fallin all in you ;)

me: lol. yeah ok

Not sure why Jo told me to make out with Alex during that specific song, but sometimes Jo just says stuff and I just go with it. It's probably some inside joke that only Shawn Mendes super fans would get. I open my camera app as Alessia Cara comes on stage and start to record for Jo. If I don't get everything she will kill me. After Alessia, Lost in Japan starts to play and Shawn comes out. He puts on a really good show and I jump and sing along to every song. Even Alex got in on the ones that he knew.

After 18 songs, Shawn starts to say something.

"Anybody who has been brought on a date tonight, or who brought a date to this show, if you've been thinking about making a move the entire night, this is your one chance, this song, okay? You don't have to do it at this one moment but at some point in this song, you gotta make that move... this is Fallin All in You."

I get it now. I glance over at Alex with the corner of my eye. He's smiling. Maybe he's just smiling because he's enjoying himself. Or... because he's gonna make a move. I start to panic as Shawn plays his guitar. I see Alex look over at me in the corner of my eye and feel his hand lightly hold mine. I take a deep breath and look down at our hands. I intertwine my fingers in his and look up at him. He's smirking. As always.

"I've been wanting to do this for a long time, thank God Shawn Mendes told me I had to." He says as he leans down towards me and puts his soft lips on mine. It felt like it lasted forever and a second at the same time. The voices of the crowd drown out. All I can hear is shawn mendes singing the lyrics that describe exactly how I'm feeling at this very moment.

After the concert ends, I'm full of so many emotions. Sadness that the concert is over, shock because I just saw Shawn Mendes, happiness because I just got kissed by the guy that I've liked for weeks now. We never stopped holding hands, even as we walked out of the venue. I got a video of every song for Jo, except for Fallin all in you, that one is a video of my feet.

Alex lets go of my hand and we get in the car. We haven't talked much since the concert ended. I think we are both just absorbing what just happened. As Alex drives out of the parking garage, I lay my head on the car window and drift off, thinking about everything that just happened on the best night of my life.

woooo this chapter was kinda crazy lol. Also very random... but jojop1221 gave me the idea and probably would've killed me if I didn't use it so, this chapter is dedicated to her.

Also, fun fact: I rewatched the video I took of Shawn's actual concert and pretty much used the same words he used for the time he talks lol. Also the picture of the rose was taken by me too :)
