All I wanted to that night was let loose for the first time in a very, very long time but looking back now, I should've just stayed home.
Everything is packed away and already off the last thing that needs to go is something that must be hand delivered to it's rightful owners. Wrapped in a soft pink baby blanket lies the most unwelcome gift I've ever received in my 25 years of life, a nameless baby girl. For the past 10 days I cared for her as much as I could bring myself to, I couldn't let harm come to her, not until she was where she deserved to be.
Lifting the bundle into my arms, I walk out of the makeshift nursery down the stairs and out the front door to waiting black towncar. The driver offers to put the baby into its spot but I figured the least I could do is let the little creature rest in it's mother arms one last time. Every so often the car would hit a bump or make a turn, the creature buried itself deeper into the blanket surrounding it looking for comfort but alas I'm not the one to do so.
Soon the driver turns down a familiar dirt road that led up to a traditional ranch styled house where I knew a loving family of three lived. I stepped carefully out of the car, then walked right up the cobblestone path with the driver following carrying all of the creatures necessities. Finally reaching the door, the driver leaves the items and returns to the car as I stand alone waiting for the door to open.
The sound of locks turning alerts me that soon I would be rid of the problem I once had, I won't have to think of her no more, she will no longer be mine. A screen door separates the woman and I from each other, she looks down to my arms then up at me with noticeable tears gathering.
"No, don't do it," she says slowly opening the door as to invite me in but I take the chance to throw the open and shove the little creature into her arms.
"I never wanted this thing but you did," I force a smile to may face as her husband and son join her at the door, " She yours now, name her what you want since the name I gave her won't fit anymore."
I rush down the path back to the car and tell the driver to drive away, I heard my name being yelled but I tell him to continue until we reach our final destination. Looking out the back window through the dust I see the small family gathering around their newest addition as one lone tear escapes my eye.
Take care, my sweet little Creature.
