Bitter Seed

A bitter seed sprouted in me
Filling me with anger and jealousy
All she did was tell him "Hi!"
I didn't mean to hit her till she cried

I love her
She loves me
That's why she's still here

I told her I was sorry
And I broke down in tears

I hope she can forgive me
Because I love her
And she loves me

I blame the bitter seed of jealousy
What love made me feel
And what love made me do
It made me hurt her

But I love her
And she loves me
So why,
Was I filled with jealousy?

Note:

I know that what occurs in this poem is not an act of love. It's just a poem I had written in class. We were told to write a poem about love and what it makes us feel. While everyone wrote about happiness and joy, I wrote about jealousy. I got the idea because I was rereading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. No one in my class was able to understand the premise of it. Only my teacher saw what angle I was approaching. Everyone just focus on the line where she was being hit. It is NOT meant to be taken SERIOUSLY!!!
