It was early that morning, the kind of early that no one but the homeless or wanders could be found.

She stood at the top of the building, her toes peeking over the ledge.
The wind seemed against her as it pushed her hair around her head and nudged her body closer to going over.

There was no emotion on her face, as blank as a cloudless sky.

She lifted her head and looked at the horizan.
The sun was just coming awake along with the people.

It was bright, and warm, and almost comforting as it greeted her like an old friend.

She smiled at it.

And then with one foot, stepped off the edge.
Her body felt like a doll's as it plummeted closer and closer to the hard cemented Earth.
The wind, now regretting it's push, tried to pull her back up as it whipped all around.

It screamed and cried for her when she closed her eyes, awaiting.

Then at the last second, she opened her eyes.
Spreading her arms out, beautiful gold feathers grew off of her pale skin as her wingspan expanded.

Her face stretched and gew more pointed until it was a beak with a sharp hook at the end.
Her light body shrunk, with more of the beautiful golden feathers sprouting off of her.
Her hair, once like the night, lightened and changed into sunlight's color.

Just when the cement sidewalk came into her new sharper eyesight, she allowed the wind to catch her.

Her wings opened as the wind heaved her back up into the sky.

The wind laughed with her and rejoyced in seeing her as she soared with them.

With a cry, she glided to the sun and enjoyed the warmth that coated her newly formed feathers.

Finally, she was happy.
