"Another celebration?" I read the announcement on our uni's homepage while laying in my bed. It makes me frown. Our department throws a party every damn week.
Last time, we held one to say goodbye to one of our professors who decided to resign - we have SO many professors and other employees here, it's so silly. I'm sure it was her idea, and they just went with it 'cause she's been working at Hongik University for a pretty long time. She's always been arrogant and entitled. It's actually good that she's gone now..
Why do I sound so mean?Anyways!

An e-mail sent by Professor Kang pops up, titled "English Literature department: information regarding next festival." Ah shit, here we go again. It reads:

Dear students,

I am pleased to inform you that we will hold a festival to celebrate your successes this semester as we always do. Semester break is about to begin, so each department is going to celebrate before we all can rest comfortably. 👍

Since our English Literature department has big plans for this celebration, a few students from the Engineering department are going to help us with the organisation. I'm asking each of you to treat them nicely!

Prof. Kang Sunhee

"The Engineering department?" I squint my eyes. Is that one guy from the haunted house gonna be there?
I mean, I KINDA hope so. He seems cool and I got a glimpse of two of his friends, who looked cute too. We'll have to see I guess.

Fast forward, two weeks passed. It's 6 pm and the party will start at 8. My friend Sooyoung is counting the snacks and drinks, and I'm supposed to arrange some of the chairs and tables.
"OI, SOOYOUNG!"
She turns around and glares at me. "What?"
"Give me something to drink. Anything, I'm begging you," I pant. The sun has been so bright all day, and there's barely any wind. PLUS, moving the tables & chairs can be exhausting as hell. I'm not kidding!

"No, dumbass! I haven't finished counting. If there are too many drinks you can have one," Sooyoung snaps and starts counting again. "Well fuck you then," I mumble under my breath and bend down again to lift up a chair.

As I get up, I can see Donghyuck walking in our direction. He seems annoyed and he raises his hand to hit his friend who quickly shields his head. If that ain't Sooyoung @ me everytime...

"O-" The fricking chair slips out of my grasp and lands on the asphalt with a bang, louder than I would've thought. I look at Sooyoung, who turned around in shock, but just shakes her head and returns to her work.

Donghyuck quickly walks up to me, his friend follows. "Are you okay? Did it land on your foot?" I shake my head and put on an awkward smile before I go to lift it up again.

"Let me help you," the boy next to Donghyuck offers and grabs the chair. He winks and introduces himself: "I'm Jaemin - nice to meet you."

Wow, flirting 101.

"I'm Yerim, nice to meet you too aaaand thank you," I giggle and point to the spot where the chair must be.

"You're Sooyoung, right?" Donghyuck clears his throat and smiles at her. She turns around, inspects him and simply hums for an answer. His smile fades and he blinks at me. "Don't worry, she's always been like this - cold as ice.." I glance at Sooyoung and she snaps: "And you're as warm as the fucking world in a few years so a little cold is pretty useful."
"I'll.. take that as a compliment."

Donghyuck rolls his eyes as Jaemin returns with a literal jump. "Yerim, I'm really interested in your friend, could you give me her nu-"
"Do it and you're a dead woman," Sooyoung looks me dead in the eyes so I decline for my own safety. "Sorry buddy, you heard it yourself."
"But-" Donghyuck puts his hand over Jaemin's mouth and grins at me. "We're gonna have to do some work over there, let's talk later, yeah?"
I try to suppress my laughter as Donghyuck drags his friend away from us. I can hear Jaemin complain "I wasn't finished!" and him answering "You shouldn't have started in the first place, baffoon."

Sooyoung struts over to me and sighs dissappointedly. "What's wrong?" I ask.

"Jaemin seems like a fun person, but you know what happened. I don't want to meet anyone new." She looks at the ground & I put my arms around her.
Sooyoung broke up with her crazy ex two months ago and... it's a long story.

"I understand. Don't push yourself. And if you're ready, you can talk to someone new!" We smile at each other & she moves away from me. "You know I hate cheesy stuff like this," she shakes her head and goes back to do her work.

Before I return to my work as well, I look at Donghyuck and Jaemin. They're seemingly fighting over who gets to set up the projector or the canvas for some reason..

So cute. Very, really cute.
