Chapter 6:Raccoon Girl

Hours Earlier

Early in the morning the young man Naofumi had stood on the porch of the farm house. He stood for a while before the door opened and out came the old man.

"Alright Naofumi,you know what your task is for the day?" the old man asked the young man.

"Yeah,head into town and collect some food for both the animals and us,then some materials to fix the house itself. Don't worry Seildo I'll be back before you know it." Naofumi said to him with a thumbs up.

The old man sighed before he put on a small smile and looked at the young adult.

"Very well,guess you should be on your way then." Seildo said to him.

Naofumi smiled at Seild before he nodded then walked off the porch and towards the direction of the town. Before he could get any farther he turned around then started to wave his hand at the man with Seildo doing the same thing.

After that Naofumi continued his journey to the village to get the required materials for the farm.

Long time has passed since the goodbye to the man. Naofumi still had been walking to the town,but tried his best to entertain himself during his long walk. He had started to reflect on the time he had spent with working with the Seildo and at the farm.

Though it had been only a month it had felt longer for the young male. He had been able to form a healthy trust with the man,and had form a trust with the animals present. Though some he would honestly admit didn't like him,and vise versa.

During his time of walking to the town he had passed by many people walking the opposite direction of him. Though when they made eye contact with each other the other person would look shocked to see him.

This confused Naofumi as he didn't understand on what he did could've shocked them,but never the less he kept trucking on. Then within even more time he had reached the gates to the front of the town.

He looked at the town since this had been his first time ever coming to the town. Last time he was in a populated area was when he was surrounded by many fairly known people. He quickly shook that thought out of his head and proceeded to head inside.

As he walked through the town looking at the many markets that were open he again was met with shocked expressions towards him. The more he walked and the more he was met with this gaze he felt himself get more confused by the minute. During his venture though he accidentally bumped into someone in front of him.

He had to stumble a bit backwards but retained his balance,though the same couldn't be said for the bumped victim. Naofumi looked and saw a fairly sized box on the ground and was able to hear the groans of a female.

He looked and there in front of his eyes was a girl with raccoon like ears on the ground with a hand on top of her head. Naofumi suddenly felt his head hurt a little,but the pain quickly faded. He then stopped and held out his hand to the girl.

"Excuse me ma'am,are you okay?" Naofumi asked with his hand held out.

The girl stopped for a moment before she looked up and had her eyes locked on the person in front of her. The girl wouldn't speak,but stayed there silent as Naofumi kindly waited for the girl's response.

As Naofumi waited his mind suddenly was filled with some pain,he felt it,but like how mysteriously that it started it ended just as mysteriously. He then began to wonder to himself on what was that all about,but quickly returned to the topic at hand.

He snapped out of it and returned to reality where he still had his hand out to the girl. The girl had still only looked without saying a single word,Naofumi decided to try and bring her back to reality.

He brought his other hand over his held out hand then within range he brought his hand down to the other making a clap sound. Once he did this the girl suddenly jerked with her ears following with a twitch.

The girl looked around and brought her eyes to the young male. She blinked her eyes for a few seconds before she realized the situation she was currently in.

"I-I'm sorry sir. I didn't see where I was going." the girl said as she looked away from the male.

"No don't worry about it,but if anyone was to apologize it should be me. I didn't look where I was going and that lead to us bumping into each other,and you dropping that...box." Naofumi explained.

As he finished explaining he looked at the box then at the girl.

"Was there something in the box that was fragile?" he asked as he pointed at the box.

The girl looked at him then at the box then back at him. She then proceeded to open her mouth.

"Depends if you want to call weapons,fragile." she said before she looked back at Naofumi.

Naofumi let out a nervous laugh before he again lend out a hand to the fallen girl.

"Do you need a hand then?" he asked before he again let out a nervous laugh.

The raccoon eared girl took a hold of the hand then once hand in hand Naofumi pulled her up,but maybe a bit too powerfully. Since once she was off the ground she suddenly found herself in his arms.

The two stayed like that for quite a bit before they realized the situation and broke apart. They looked at each other with Naofumi with a hand on his head and the girl shaking her hand to him.

Quickly though they dropped the event and proceeded to forget all about it. Once they did Naofumi looked at the box then back to the girl.

"Do you need a hand with the box?" he asked.

"It's heavy,but I should still be able to deliver it." she replied before she moved towards it.

As she did Naofumi quickly reached towards it then put a hand on top of the box. Once he did he looked straight at the girl.

"If I could be of assistance of helping you with the box I surely am." he said to her.

"You sure,you don't have to." she said to him.

"Don't worry I insist. It's the least I could do,especially since I'm the cause of you dropping it." he explained.

The girl looked at the male before she put her hands on her hips the  proceeded to open her mouth.

"If you insist then be my guest. Though I must warn you,it is pretty heavy." she explained to him with care.

Naofumi looked at the box then put his hands on the bottom of the box then picked it up...and it was fairly...light?

Naofumi looked at it before he looked at the girl,but he was met with eyes of shock as he held the box with ease.

"It's pretty light,but that may because I do happen to work at a farm...and sometimes have to pick up the cows." Naofumi said to the girl.

The girl quickly shook her snapping out of it.

"Well,you've certainly got quite the amount of strength Naofumi." the girl said to the him.

Once she said that Naofumi looked at the girl with confusion. Confusion on how she knew his name. But before he could ask he suddenly felt another wave of pain enter his head.

He suddenly started to get images of a person inside his head that looked familiar. The person he saw also had raccoon ears,was a female,and looked strangely identical to the girl next to him.

After a while the pain stopped leaving him with now a concerned raccoon girl by his side. As she stood there Naofumi opened his mouth for a sudden question.

"Excuse me ma'am." Naofumi said to her as he looked down

"Y-yes Naofumi?" The girl replied with concern to the male.

"I hope you don't mind me asking,but..." Naofumi said before he paused then looked straight at the girl.

"Have we met before?"
