Chapter 5

The cops had called your boss down,  and when he arrived he was furious and very happy with you at the same time. He was furious for two reasons; that you hadn't replied to his texts or emails, and that you got arrested. However he was very happy that you had caught the creature and gotten evidence.

"Let's review the footage, Mr. Truman." the chief of police said to Fletcher.

Fletcher sat next to you and Eren in the interrogation room. A man wheeled a trolley with a TV on it into the room and left. They flicked on the footage of you showing the monster off, measurements, claws, every feature.

"See?? I'm not lying, ask Eren!" you huffed, Eren nodded in agreement,"And I have several other eyewitnesses who have seen this thing!" you said, sitting at the edge of your chair.

Everyone was silent. Fletcher shrugged and scratched his jaw,"Giving this outstanding evidence, I'm convinced. My associate has put her heart and soul into this investigation, and it looks as if it paid off quite well."

You looked at Fletcher, shocked. He hasn't said anything good about your performance since...ever! He's usually very disappointed in you, and rarely talks good about you. But you should be grateful, Fletcher was like family to you, he saved you when you were suffering to find a lead. He's the only person who truly cares about you, and even though he's rough on the outside, he's a big softy on the inside.

"Well, (Mr./Ms.)(Last), Mr. Jaeger, looks like you're free to go." the cop pulled out his keys so he could take the handcuffs off the two of you.

You rubbed your wrist and grinned at Fletcher, who rolled his eyes. You walked out of the police station, Eren told you he'd be at his house, and you bid him farewell.

Fletcher took your shoulders in his hands,"(Name), I'm gonna stay in the hotel two blocks from here, if you get any other leads, call me."

"Yes sir." you nodded, hugging him,"Thank you so much."

He awkwardly pat your head,"Alright, get to the night investigation soon, got it?"

You nodded again, backing up a little,"Will do sir!"

You waved and turned around, bumping into someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry sir." you apologized, looking at the man.

He was slightly taller than you. SLIGHTLY. He had raven colored hair and dull, bored looking dark eyes.

"Tch, watch it, kid." the man said, pushing past you.

You watched after the man, your brows furrowed. How rude...
