Colby's Point Of View

***A Few Days Later***

I am currently packing to go on a TFIL trip to Colorado with Sam, Elton, Corey and Andrea. I am very excited because this is the first TFIL trip that I had been on in a long time.

I honestly feel bad for leaving Mara at home all alone with the baby. I said that I wouldn't go and stay home with her, but she keeps telling me that she has it all under control.

I was interrupted from my thoughts when I hear Mara walk into the room, "Hey, you ready to go? Elton's here." "Yeah, almost. Can you hand me that shirt over there?" "Yeah, here." She says handing me my shirt.

"Are you sure about this?" I ask her, "Sure about what?" "Sure about being alone with the baby. It's not too late for me to tell Elton that I want to stay home. He will understand."

"Colby, I will be fine, okay? Go out and enjoy yourself for a little while, you have earned it. If I need anything, I will call Kat or someone. Please, don't worry about me."

"Alright. If you are one thousand percent sure." "I am." She says as she nods her head. I gave her a kiss goodbye and meet Elton in the car. I hope that I don't end up regretting my decision about this.

Mara's Point Of View

Colby just left and I'm not going to lie, I am kind of scared to be all alone with the baby. It's not Colby's fault, though. I told him to go and I don't regret it either. I really did mean what I said, he deserves to enjoy himself.

It's just that this whole mom thing is still really new to me and I don't know if I'll be able to handle it alone. I mean, I could call my mom if I needed help, but as far as she is concerned, she doesn't have a daughter.

Oh well, I can do this. I am strong and I can do anything. I was cut off from my self pep talk by a faint whimpering coming from Avery's crib. I walk over to her and pick her up, "there, there, Avery. Everything's going to be alright."

It has been several hours since Colby left and Avery has been screaming nearly the whole time. I mean, I've tried everything: a bottle, new diaper, and everything else that I could think of and nothing's working.

I feel so bad. I just can't stand the thought that my baby girl is not happy and I don't know what to do to fix it. I was startled by the sound of my phone ringing. I checked the caller ID and it was Kat.

Mara: "Hello?"

Kat: "Hey, Mar, Me, Dev, and Tara are all going out for a girls night and we wanted to see if you wanted to come with us."

Mara: "Awe, girls, I would love to and it is so sweet of you all to think of me, but I just can't right now, Colby's gone and I would have no one to watch over the baby."

Kat: "Oh, I'm so sorry! I forgot all about that! What if we came over and helped you?"

Mara: "Oh, no. You guys don't have to do that! Go out and enjoy yourselves! Maybe we could go out when Colby gets back?"

Kat: "Yeah! That would be awesome!"

Mara: "Okay! I love you, bye!"

Kat: "Love you too! Bye, Mara!"

Kat's Point Of View

I just got off of the phone with Mara, and she sounded pretty stressed out, so the girls and I decided that we were going to go over and help her with the baby.

I know that she said that she didn't want us to, but I would feel really bad not to. Plus, she is the type of person that doesn't like to take anything from anyone because she feels so bad about it, so we are going to surprise her.

Mara's Point Of View

I was trying to rock Avery to sleep, when all of the sudden, I heard a knock at the door. I wonder who that could be, I didn't think that I was expecting anyone.

I opened the door and to my surprise, I saw Kat, Devyn, and Tara standing there. "Hey guys! What are you doing here?" I say pulling them into a group hug. "Come on in."

They all came inside and set their things down on the couch. "We came to help you, silly." Tara explained. "Yeah, but-" "Nope, no but's. We are here to help you and that's that. We can all go out another night. Plus, it looks like you need all of the help that you can get." Devyn intervened.

"Awe, thanks guys! I really do appreciate you guys doing this. You really didn't have to help me, you know." "Yeah, yeah, we know, but what are friends for?"

I am so thankful to truly have the best friends on the face of this earth. We spent the whole rest of the night taking care of Avery, talking, and telling stories. They even taught me a few tricks on how to calm her down that actually work!
