Phoenix's P.O.V
I walked into Superior Middle School in a large black hoodie and black jeans with black converse. I had a big, draw-strap backpack hanging off on one of my shoulders. I had bags under my eyes as I couldn't sleep for many nights with his face haunting me when I close my eyes, that also almost includes blinking. Recently, my cousin, Jayson Caliman, died, only two weeks ago to be exact as he was shot to death in a gang fight. Yes, my cousin was in a gang, the Himalayan Leopards actually, one of the most dangerous gangs in the this small town near Lake Superior.
My name is Phoenix Caliman and I am 13 and 1/2. Jayson was a bad influence, sure, but he was the best influence in my life. My parents never gave me attention as they both loved their jobs too much. I was exposed to many bad things as a child when I started growing close with Jayson, which was when I was 8 or something. I was exposed to smoking, drinking, violence, etc. The violence isn't something my cousin exposed me to, but it was more like the kids at my school exposed me to violence as they bully me quite severely. I never told Jayson as I thought I had to deal with on my own.
I met his gang-mates or his 'brothers' is what he likes to call them, when I was 10 years old. Jayson was like me, he never really gotten attention as a child. They quickly became my family as well, they treated me well, hell, even his boss liked me. They taught me how to defend myself and how to do some offense.
Anyway, when Jayson died, it felt like I lost a part of myself and I know I did. I lost a part of my family and your family is part of you, they raise you, help you develop into what you are.
It didn't matter if you weren't flesh.
and blood.
Okay, I getting off track. Anyway, as I previously saying, I recently lost my cousin. I was bullied for all of my school life. My parents are so rich, it isn't even funny. Oh! I forgot to mention, the old school's bad boy, Jake Shurge, moved away to North Dakota last year. Which I am glad for since he was one of my biggest bullies. As I reached my locker, I put in my combo, putting my bag in my locker and gathering my things for first period. Just as I finished gathering my stuff and turned around, my binder was slapped out of my hands. I didn't have to look up to know who it is.
"Oops! Well aren't you such a klutz, now aren't you, freak?" Said the high-pitched, bratty voice of the current Queen Bee, Vanessa Camel-oops, I mean, Camea. No doubt she had her squad and hers and all of their boyfriends aka the jocks were there to help her. I didn't reply but as I mentally prepared myself for her bs. "Oh, are you mute now?" Vanessa said smugly. I knew I was much stronger than her and I could easily break her fragile neck but I didn't want to be like her besides, she had the jocks, I didn't want to risk it. Though beating her up seemed very appealing.
"Answer me when I talk to you, fattie!" Vanessa screeched.
The jocks and her squad were dumb as a box of rocks, they wouldn't do anything unless Vanessa told them to.
"Answer me right now you little b-" I caught her hand that she was about to slap me with and added some pressure onto it, hearing her wince. I looked up and met her eyes with menace. "If you want my answer so badly, then here it is," I said icily as I dropped her hand but before she could react, my fist made contact with her nose. She landed on the ground harshly but before she got the chance to get up, I straddled her hips and threw some good punches, it showing on her superficial face. "What are you idiots waiting for?! Get her off of me!" The bloodied nose girl screeched. A jock suddenly pulled me off but I reacted by bashing my head against his, turning around, kicking him where the sun doesn't shine then punched his face. I went onto a rummage, beating up the so-called "Queen Bee" and beating up anyone who dared to try and stop me. Everything was a blur, I think I hurt some teachers who tried to stop the fighting. All I could see was red.Eventually, with a lot of teachers and some other staff members, some of them having some black eyes, bruises and bloody noses, managed to get me off her.
I was walking out of the school as my punishment for beating up for multiple people was a two week-suspension. But I gotta say, I sure felt proud of myself when I calmed down and saw the b*tch's face. I even almost laughed. I wasn't sorry I've done that, she was asking for it. I had a strong feeling when I come back, everything is going to change.
