Unforgettable Melody

Chapter 1

Sungjae POV

I'm sitting in the middle of darkness. No one is around except me. I only see the light that shines through a certain window. I scanned the darkroom and I saw a door. I want to stand up from being seated but I can't. My hands are cuffed and my body was tied up.

I tried to escape but the rope that was tied to me was too tight. I want to scream for help but I can't open my mouth and can't even stutter a word. I panicked and I used my remaining strength to move towards the door until I heard a certain melody.

Nanananana.........Nananana......Nanananana...
Mmmm......mmmmmm....mmmmm...... asdfghjkl.....

I searched where that melody coming from. Not until I saw a certain lady standing away from me wearing a white blooded wedding dress. Her hair was covering her face. She's slowly walking towards me. When I saw her coming, I moved faster and faster! And a certain hand grabbed my shirt.

"AHHHHH!!!!!" I screamed.

"Yah! Yah! 이러나! (Wake up!)" my brother said.

I was sweating so much and I get up while my brother Eunkwang stared at me.

"You're having a nightmare again?" Eunkwang asked.

"네 형 (Yes, Hyung)" I said to him while catching my breath. He pats my back and he looked at me empathetically.

"Let's go to your doctor the day after tomorrow, alright?" He said while looking through my eyes.

"그래요 형 (Okay Hyung) I said to him and smiled a little.

After that, my Eunkwang Hyung goes out of my room while I walked through the bathroom to wash up. I looked in the mirror and saw my reflection. I asked myself "Who are you? Why do you keep on bugging me? Huh? What do you want?!!!" I screamed and cried.

I sat down on the floor and cried. It's been 3 years since I keep on hearing a certain melody in my dreams. Every time that I sleep, I always have a nightmare. My psychiatrist can't help me to stop this nightmare.

A lady in my dream keeps saying "I'm sorry" and then a certain melody plays in her mouth. That nightmare always haunts me in my dreams.

I don't know why is this happening to me. I wasn't experiencing this when I was a kid and in my teenage life. It just started recently after I got hospitalized for 3 years.

I'm just 18 when I got into a car accident, that's what my Eunkwang Hyung said. Since I'm 18 years old back then, they gave me a car as their gift for celebrating my legal age. I'm too excited at that time, that's why I got into an accident.

I have amnesia right now. They don't know what really happened to me that night except having an accident. Me neither, I don't know or I can't clearly remember why did I get into an accident. 

It's a miracle that I'm still alive despite of what happened and being hospitalized for 3 years.

My brother knows me well, that I won't drive if I had an alcohol and I won't recklessly drive like there's no tomorrow.

Knock....knock....knock....

"Come in!" I said to the one who knocked on my door. It turns out that it's my brother's wife, Shin Noona.

She brought a glass of milk on her hand and placed it on the side table in my bed.

"Here, drink your milk so that you can sleep. You still have class tomorrow. Remember it's your first day in college tomorrow." She said and left.

I just stared at the milk, as if it will help me to sleep without having a nightmare. And yeah I'm having my first day of school since I got hospitalized.

Morning came, and as expected I didn't get enough sleep. I started to prepare for school. It'll be a long and tiring day for me.

Shin Noona waked up early so that she can cook for our breakfast. She's the nicest Noona that I have. Or is it because she's the only Noona that I have?

"Ready for today?" My Hyung asked me.

"Not fully ready but yeah, I have to." I said to him while I gave my forced smile.

"It'll be fine, Sungjaeya! And uh, I remember, you have schedule to your doctor later at 4 pm. Sorry, I can't accompany you, your Shin Noona and I will go to her Mom's house. There's this problem that we have to fix. 미안해 성재야 (Sorry, Sungjae). My brother explained to me. It's fine though, I can go there on my own. And the doctor can't help me either.

"괜찮아 형 (its fine brother) I can go there on my own. And I know where to go. Don't worry about me." I assured my brother.

I've been a burden to them ever since. Mom and Dad died when I was 6, and my Eunkwang Hyung had to take care of me. He worked hard for us to live. I am actually embarrassed living with them with Shin Noona. If I didn't get into an accident, I probably have a job now and not a burden to Eunkwang Hyung's life.

I arrived at school early as I expected. Eunkwang Hyung drove me here, he gave a goodluck for today.

It's actually my first time here at the university. Shin Noona was the one who enrolled me here because her uncle is the dean here.

"ReVe University" "Welcome Back Students!"

These words welcomed me as I passed through the gate of the university.  A lot of students are chit chatting with each other, they have their company while I'm here alone walking.

My thoughts were interrupted when a girl bumped into me. She's wearing a mask so I didn't get the chance to see her face. But I heard her saying "sorry".

I was about to follow her when an announcement made by the university intruded.

"All the freshman students please proceed to the social hall! I repeat, all freshman students please proceed to the social hall!".
