Jaime had to have ten stitches. The nurses let me stay with her through it all, as I held my best friends hand. I couldn't stand the fact Jason caused her this much pain. Her whimper grew louder through every stitch.

After it was done, I sat with Jaime once more in the waiting room, until the blood work the doctor took two hours before to come back. The results would tell if she was pregnant or not.

Her knee bounced up and down, letting me know she was anxious. "Jaime, I'm going to be here always," I reassure her, placing my hand down on the top of her knee.
"I'm so scared," she admitted, stopping her bouncing for a moment. I sighed, putting an arm around her. It was currently six in the morning, and the E.R. was becoming more and more crowded by the hour.

"Jaime Edwards?" A nurse calls out over the intercom. Jaime jumps a bit, carefully getting up from her seat. I hesitated, getting out of my own seat to follow behind my best friend.
The nurse smiled at me, "are you the father?"

Jaime broke down once more at that question, turning her face to lean into my chest. I put my arm around her, careful of her newly recovering arm. I patted her hair, as the nurse gasped. "I'm sorry! Here, this is the results," the Nurse handed me the paper work.
