Ariel. To so many the story of Ariel was nothing but a myth. A cute little story about a little mermaid who wanted to be a part of another world. People are always finding new creatures in the ocean, but that's not too surprising. Seriously, have you seen the size of the thing?

There's just one thing. One thing that people don't even consider, and the thought of being found out horrifies an entire world. That one thing, isn't small at all. Merpeople. Ariel's kind. They're out there, under the surface of the sea. They're out there, and they've gotten very good at hiding themselves from humans.

An entire world, and we don't even know it. We are completely oblivious. To ignorant to even consider that maybe, just maybe the story of Ariel is more than a children's story. Maybe it's more of a moment in history, lost in translation. The idea of merpeople so outrageous, so unusual that we think it can't possibly be true.

Ignorance. Unobservant. Unaware. Unwilling. Blind. Not as imaginative as they could be. Artists think they have a lot of imagination. They don't, not as much as they could. Imagination lies with children. Adults could take a lesson or two from kids. But such is life. The life of a human anyway.

Merpeople on the other hand, aren't quite so ignorant. They are aware of another world beyond the surface of the sea. They have to be if they want to stay safe and hidden from this world. They know of humans, they know of this other world. It's because they know, that they hide themselves. They're completely content with living underneath the sea, keeping to themselves. Fear keeps them there. Most won't admit it, such an atrocious thing as fear; but they feel it. They're afraid.

So then... What happens when one peasant merman and one imaginative artist cross paths?
