"Where are we going?" Jayde asked adjusting her flimsy blindfold.
"Take off your blindfold and see for yourself," I remarked, pulling into Sunny's diner rundown parking area.
Jayde gasped and clasped her hands together in delight as she unbuckled her seatbelt. We hadn't gone to Sunny's diner since Dad passed away. He used to take Jayde and I every year for our birthdays. I smiled when I heard the chime of the bell as we walked into the diner.
"Come on, Jayde!" I said tugging on her arm to get her attention.
We sat in a booth in the corner of the diner and I looked down at the tattered menu. I glanced up to notice Jayde drumming her fingers anxiously.
"What's wrong?" I asked squeezing her hand. She glanced at the diner door and turned back to me with a scared look in her eyes.
"Nothing, Lyla. I just need the bathroom," she replied pushing back her chair, "Excuse me."
I furrowed my eyebrows at Jayde's strange behavior but soon got lost in my own thoughts. I woke from my daze when I heard an ear-splitting scream coming from the bathroom. I sprinted to the dirty, mint green bathroom to see Jayde's silver engraved Locket lying on the tiled floor. I grabbed the necklace and ran out of the bathroom.
"Jayde? Where are you? Jayde!"
"Is everything alright?" a waiter asked glancing down at me.
"I heard a scream coming from the bathroom and now I can't find my sister! I found her locket lying on the floor and she never takes it off," my voice quivering as I spoke.
"I'll call the police," he said pulling out his phone.
I called Jayde but there was no answer. I searched frantically around the empty diner trying to find her. I rested my head against the diner wall as I slid onto the floor. I burrowed my head into my knees as I started to break down.
