One Year Later
“I think your physical therapy went well today, sweetheart,” Mrs. Patterson said to her daughter as she wheeled her out of the hospital.
Celine scoffed. “I’ve been at this for a year now and the best I can do is stand on my own two feet,”
“You have to remember that the doctors said you basically had no chance of even accomplishing that! Your father would be so proud of you! I know I am,”
I confident smile broke out across Celine’s lips. “Tell me how proud dad would be when I actually start walking again,”
“Fair enough, sweetheart,”
“Has Cid called?”
Mrs. Patterson’s brow furrowed. “You know he’s not going to call. With any luck, he’s on the other side of the planet by now. To think he was that vigilante gallivanting against the Yakuza! You’re safer this way, and I’d dare say you’re better off,”
“I think I can decide for myself what leads to me being ‘better off’,”
Her mother began to laugh. “I already know that I can’t convince you otherwise, so I won’t try. After all, I can’t tell you to not be in love with the boy,”
This statement caused Celine’s face to flush bright red.

Jason Hirigazawa was sorting a stack of pictures in his room when he heard a knock on the door.
It was Taka. “Sir, it’s time,”
After a short car ride, they had arrived at the airport.
“Japan is truly beautiful Jason. I’m sure you will enjoy it,” Taka declared reassuringly.
Jason simply stared out the window. “Don’t get too comfortable. When the time comes, we will be returning,”
A quizzical look appeared on Taka’s face. “Sir, there is nothing left. The Yakuza are finished,”
“You’re wrong. When we are ready, we will return and seize what remains of my father’s empire. I will not let his dreams die with him,” Jason retorted defiantly.
Suddenly, he began a violent coughing fit.
