"Just sign here, and here, and here" the lawyer says pointing to the lines with an 'x' beside
I start to fill the lines with my signature
"Alex, you don't have to do this right now if you're not comfo-" I cut Dr. Ashley off
"I'm fine" I say, shaking my head
I sign on the last line and drop my pen taking in a huge breath
"Alright Mrs. Anderson, We're done" the lawyer says
Wow. Ok. I guess I'm a multi-millionaire now and ceo of Anderson Tech
Fuck this was crazy
"Ok. So I guess we're done. Thank you for your time" I say and get up to exit out of the living room
"Wait Alex" I hear the Doctor call out
I stop walking and turn to face him"For the funeral... there will be many people attending since Ace was a very well known man. The funeral home only wants someone to choose what kind of flowers, the casket and other little things. I was wondering if you want to do-" I cut him off
Plan the funeral? He seriously wants me to plan the funeral?
"I-I'm, sorry Doctor Ashley. But, but I can't. I can't do that" I say feeling tears start to threat spilling
"I can't plan Ace's funeral and choose flowers when I don't even know what he liked! For god sakes, I don't even know when his birthday was!" I say with my voice becoming louder
"I can't do this. I just, I can't." I say with a tear slipping down my cheek
He doesn't respond but only brings his head down.
After a moment, he speaks"August 23rd" he says
"What?" I ask in confusion
"His birthday was August 23rd" dr Ashley says again looking up to meet my eyes
"August 23rd" I repeat, this time in a whisper
Dr. Ashley let's out a sigh and pushes back his hair
"I've known Ace for many many years now. He was my friend" he says with a small smile thinking about his long time friend"Why didn't he just sign everything under your name? He's known you way longer than me" I ask
"It's not that easy Alex. I'm his doctor. It wouldn't seem right for his doctor to inherit everything for insurance purposes" he says
We sit in silence for a few minutes before he decided to get up
"Well I better get going. Don't worry, I'll take care of the funeral arrangements myself. Take care of yourself Alex" he says before leaving
I just sit there, feeling helpless. Not knowing what I've gotten myself into...

I finishing applying my nude lipstick onto my lips and look at myself in the mirror. My tired out face had disappeared, the dark circles were covered by concealer but it didn't look like too much makeup.
My hair was tied up into a ponytail with a few pieces down in the front. My black dress was a little below my knees and had long sleeves. I put on a black rain coat and wear my short black heels.Looking at myself one last time, I agree that I looked presentable to go out in public and made my way to the car to attend Ace's funeral.
It's been a few days since the accident and ever since the press found out about Ace's death, there have been reporters lined up outside the mansion.
Molly told me that Ace had a team of security and she called them to secure around the house. It was getting out of hand.
"Are you forgetting anything miss?" Molly asks me as I make my way down the stairs
"I don't think so... are they still there?" I ask her referring to the photographers that were waiting outside the gated fence
Honestly, do they not have any respect?
"Yes mam, their still there. But we'll keep you guarded. Don't answer any of their questions or listen to what they say" one of the security guards tell me
Molly and I, along with the security guards exit the door and make our way to the car. We get in and the same driver who a few weeks ago picked me up from my old apartment takes us to the funeral. I learned that his name is Gary and that he's also been working for Ace for the past 3 years. He was an elderly man in and around late 60s.
I didn't know anyone who worked for Ace but luckily Molly has been here long enough and knew everyone. I've also gotten to know them these past few days and they were really nice people.
After passing by the mob of photographers behind the gated fence, The rest of the drive to the funeral is quite. I was told that many people will be there and I wasn't sure what to do or say. Doctor Ashley told me to present myself as Ace's wife since, well, I was his wife....
The car comes to a stop and the car door opens. Molly exits first and I go out after her. As we are walking into the church, I see camera flashing my way blinding me. Honestly, it's a funeral, do paparazzi have no respect?!
We hurry in and I notice many, many people inside the church all sitting down. We walk to the front of the alter and I see the casket closed with flowers placed on top. Right beside the casket was a picture of Ace before the first accident. Before his face was damaged.
It was a picture of him smiling with his fluffy and messy hair. I was finally able to notice that he had light brown hair. His blue blue eyes were shining bright as if they were staring right back at me. His olive skin tone resonated well with his bright blue eyes. He, he looked happy. He was a really handsome man if I might add.
It was the first time I noticed every single detail and what he really looked like. I had only ever seen him with bandages covering his face except for his eyes. But before the accident, people were right. He was handsome.
I was told that there was no actual body in the casket since everything from the accident was burned. They weren't able to identify or collect any remains.
I take a seat in the first row beside Doctor Ashley and Molly. As the service begins, I can't help but take note of how he was able to survive a plane crash. But ended up dying in a car accident.
It's crazy how things work.
The whole service, I didn't cry. I wasn't sure if I had become a robot, or that I already had cried enough at home these past few days. I just didn't have any tears. I felt the pain, but had no tears.
Or was it because it didn't feel real. There was no body in that casket. It didn't feel real at all.—
