Rose was sitting at her desk, typing away at a new article about malfunctions in their home appliances that often left people badly injured and/or hospitalized. She, of course, it was all just homeowners misusing their appliances. One lady’s microwave exploded and another household’s gas stove leaked and left the all unconscious.

Rose, finding it boring, headed to the coffee room. Usually, it was filled to the brim but this morning it was not. Come to think of it, Rose had seen barely anyone in the office. The occasional colleague but that was it. She poured her coffee and started heading back out when the door slammed into her causing her coffee to spill everywhere. Someone emerged from the other side of the door wearing a bandana around there mouth.

“What are you doing here?” He yelled. “I told everyone to evacuate the building.” That’s where everyone went. Rose still sat on the floor until the stranger lifted her up.

“What’s happening?” She asked.

“No time to explain, come on!”

The man took her hand and ran her out of the building. Who the hell is he? Rose thought. She yanked her hand away.

“I’m not going anywhere until you at least tell me what the hell is going on.” He looked around and leaned in close to her ear.

“Listen, at the moment, you do not want to be in this building. A large group called The Purity is after someone in this building. It’ll be a death shower if we don’t get out now.” He grabbed Rose’s hand again and ran out of the building.

“Do you know who they’re after?” She asked after being whisked out of the building but the man wasn’t paying attention. He was looking at a mob of people running straight towards them.

“I think I just found out.” He said looking at her. “Quick. Run!” Rose quickly followed the man; his short blonde hair slightly waving in the wind they ducked through the crowds went down alleys. Gunshots and screaming were following behind them. And ran until he found another two masked men guarding some motorbikes.

“What took you so long?” Said the first accomplist. He said it plainly, brushing his scraggly black hair out of his face, as if he didn’t give a shit.

“Not everyone got the message of evacuating the building.” All three of them looked towards Rose.
