Denny took a sip of his freshly made coffee and mumbled “I love Coffee” as he sat down at the table and tried to take his eyes off Ellie’s legs, which proved again to be impossible.  Ellie, was indeed a very attractive princess, whom everyone loved to be with and around.

“Ellie, you look so perfect today, I have never seen you look so lovely”, says Denny as he took off his enormous Mexican hat. “Just tell me about the goat and stop looking at my legs, yet again”, said Ellie.

“Well, I saw something by your garden gate sniffing in the grass and I thought that Loner had escaped, again. But as I heard no music playing and no pounding on a bass guitar, I realised that it wasn’t Loner when I got closer”, said Denny. Loner had always been a very musical dog and had a fascination for holding down rhythm and beat. Which is why, when he was a puppy his Father, a great singer known as “His Masters Voice”, had arranged drum and bass lessons for the little puppy Loner.

“I saw that not only was there no bass guitar near to Loner, but also, Loner appeared to have horns…which seemed odd. Once I got nearer, I realised that Loner was now appearing to look more like a goat and so I realised it wasn’t him.

As the goat looked up and saw me, it reared on its hind legs and gave me the grin of a madman. All teeth and a goaty beard is what struck me, as the goat appeared to start laughing, while tickling his horns with his own front left hoof.

It looked quite surreal, in a way that only the artist from the Sun Seller shop sometimes painted things, whilst eating bags and bags of tooty-fruity sweets. Nothing in the Sun Seller shop ever seemed real or true to life, and this goat certainly didn’t”.

“So why did you bring the goat in to my home?”, asked Ellie.

Because I read the tag around his neck that was attached to the diamond bell and collar the goat was wearing”, said Denny…who now appeared to be snorting and dribbling more, as he became more and more excited talking of what happened.

Ellie’s eyes opened even wider than usual, as Denny mentioned the diamond bell.

Almost immediately she got up to take a look at the goat through the kitchen window. As she did so, the goat stared back at her and lifted its ears and back legs to do a handstand, (Or hoof stand, as “crazy kid” goats do).

“Can you smell milk?”… Ellie asked Denny.

With no warning, Denny stood up and walked across the kitchen to the fridge, opened it and took out a fresh new bottle of milk that was a daily delivery for all residents of the village. The milk was never free but provided at subsidised cost by Kramer, who seemed to be a friend to everyone.

Kramer was the village dairy farmer, affectionately known as “Kramer the Creamer”. He was a super chap who learned his dairy talent in the fields of Canada, with a herd that originally belonged to a famous dairy in Wyoming. The Wyoming dairy herd was famed for the rudeness and ill-tempered behaviour of its cows. Despite this, the milk from Wyoming was always considered refreshing and nutritious.

Denny explained to Ellie that simply hearing the word “milk”, and not even smelling it, reminded him of his Mum and with a tear in his eye he drank the whole bottle!

Ellie gave him a disapproving look and returned her gaze to the diamond bell around the goat’s neck, who was now undertaking a hoof-stand, on one leg, whilst hopping.

“So what did it actually say in the note on the goats neck, Denny?” asked Ellie… as she continued to stare at the antics of the goat, who did seem a little erratic and crazy dancing around while tethered.

“The note says, please deliver this Crazy Kid Goat to Ellie, XoXoXo your Prince”, said Denny, who was still dribbling and looking at Ellie’s legs as she bent forward to look at the goat through the window.

Ellie decided to go and take a look for herself at the note and to introduce herself to Crazy Kid, if the goat was indeed a gift for her. She walked across the hall to the front door again, slightly nervous but also feeling a little confused and bemused. All this had already happened in her dream and now she seemed to be living it.

As Ellie bent down to stroke the goat, she spotted Kramer the Creamer coming along the garden path to deliver her fresh milk.

Then… BOOOM, BOOOM, BOOOM, BOOOM!, there was an explosion of sound from the shed in Ellie’s garden near the beach, 100 meters from her house.

Loner had become impatient at not getting his morning bone and was taking out his frustration by cranking up his bass and hammering down hard on his G-string, with his paws, on all fours. Whenever Loner played, it was always for a reason and now he was desperate for his morning bone, which had not yet appeared due to Ellie’s distraction with the goat and her dream.

Loner was feeling neglected.

While the sound was deafeningly loud, it was also full of passion and rhythm and melody, making Kramer lunge with his hips as he walked up the path to deliver his milk and Ellie also followed the beat with all of her body, making moves she had often copied from Beyonce and Rihanna's dvd.

This was enlightening for Denny, who had run outside to see what the explosive beat sound was only to see Ellie moving in a way that only made him dribble more. The sounds of the bass groove were intoxicating and lead Denny to grind his hips in a way that Tuyen, another village friend, had taught him to cheer up when he had lost his hair in the fire.

Denny though, was without real ability to dance, despite his illusion that he could. He looked more like he was moving on marbles and always on the brink of falling over, as he skipped around waving his hands.

As Loner's bass continued to enthral them, the dance continued, long enough for them all to become a little out of breath and then suddenly, it stopped.

Then Ellie said “come on you guys, it’s time to get going…Kramer, thank you for the fresh milk and Denny, please give Loner a bone and put Crazy Kid in the small paddock, after you have given him a bath…..I need to go and choose my clothes for today.”

With that, Ellie made her way back up to her bedroom to get ready.
