My mother answered the door and greeted us both with a hug. We walked into the living room and took a seat on the large sofa, butterflies seem to be having a party in my stomach.

I can't remember a time I was ever this nervous to tell my parents anything. My mum and dad have always been supportive and understanding of everything I've done I just hope this time is the same.
The four of us made conversation for a little while, I asked how they are, how work was and all that stuff and they did the same. Alex held my hand the whole time, a small gesture that offered me a hell of a lot of support and comfort.

"Mum, dad, me and Alex have something we want to tell you" I blurted, cutting off my dad mid sentence.
I can't hold it in any longer, the anticipation of their reaction is killing me, either way it goes I just want it over and done with.
"Young lady! Do not cut your mother off mud sentence like that! It's rude." My dad half yelled at me
"I'm sorry dad, sorry mum" I said hanging my head down.
"It's fine dear" said my mum, giving me a soft reassuring smile. "What is it you want to tell us"
I look at Alex and he nods his head at me in support.
"Mum, dad. I'm pregnant" I look between them both.
Silence. Silence that seems to be lasting a lifetime. This can't be good.
My father finally breaks the silence "Paisley, I suggested you and Alex leave this house immediately and do not come back"
"What!" Both me and my mum shout in unison.
"Never mind what! I don't want either of these morons in this house again!" The four of us are standing now, looking between each other.
"I know you're mad Chris, I am too! But I can't let my daughter and grandchild just walk away." My mum looked at my father sternly.
"Grandchildren, actually" I threw out to the room.
My mum looked shocked, so did my dad for a moment but his expression quickly returned to anger.
"Not that it matters. I asked you both to leave" my dad pointed towards the door.
"But dad!" I felt the tears began to well up in my eyes.
"But nothing, Paisley. I don't even want to look at the pair of you." He said and sat down, set on completely ignoring me and waiting until I leave.

I walked towards the door, Alex right behind me. My mother also followed us to the door.
"Look, Paisley, I'm beyond mad about this." She pauses for a second "however, I am your mum and I love you. I'm going to be here for you throughout this pregnancy, call me tomorrow and we can make arrangements to meet up for lunch or something".
I smiled and nodded at my mum then headed out towards the car.
"Oh, and Paisley" my mum shouted as I opened the car door "give your dad time, he'll come around eventually. You're his baby girl and he loves you."

I just nodded and got into the car. Well that did not go how I hoped.
The car ride home was pretty quiet, I think we both expected to have more support in this. At least we have each other, right?
