The Kingdom of Auradon had finally reached its peaceful state again and everyone was gathered in the courtyard for Lady Mal and King Ben's engagement party.
Carlos and I were standing with Evie and Jay waiting for Mal and Ben to arrive.
"There they are!" Evie announced as the couple walked through the stone gateway into the party.
Everyone cheered as they made their way up to the wooden balcony with the former king and queen.
"Lady Mal and I couldn't be happier that you all came to celebrate our engagement today." Ben announced to the crowd before turning to look at Mal, " I couldn't be prouder or happier to call you my queen." There were a lot of awes from the crowd before Ben continued, "so everyone raise your glasses up, to our future queen of Auradon!"
"To our Queen of Auradon!" Everyone cheered and took a sip of our drinks.
"Speech your specialness," Carlos called out with a bright smile
"Speech your fancy one," Jay said in a posh voice causing everyone to laugh.
We all looked to Mal to make her speech that was requested, but all I saw was her cheery expression change to a grim one causing confusion to flow through the VKs.
"I can't" Mal said finally causing many surprised gasps to erupt in the crowd, "I can't be Queen of Auradon." She turned to Ben and whispered something I couldn't make out before continuing her announcement.
"We made a decision... to close the barrier forever. And it was my idea and it was wrong. I've learned that you can't live in fear ... because it doesn't protect you from anything. You never know where the bad is gonna come from.
And you never know where the heroes
are gonna come from either." Mal declared in strong voice, "Without Uma and her pirates, Auradon would be gone.
And without Hades...my father... and Dr Facilier," Many people in the crowd gasped and I felt Carlos hand grip my hand.
"Jane would be gone. We are all capable of good and bad, no matter which side of the barrier we come from. And that's why I can't be Queen of just Auradon. I have to be Queen of the Isle, too. And it's time that we take the barrier down forever." Mal finished looking up at Ben"We can't do that." The old king said confused with Mal's declaration
"It's up to us, Dad." Ben countered and turned toward the crowd of people, "I choose to be a King who moves forward.
It's time for forgiveness. It's time for new beginnings. The barrier will come down!" Ben declared to us all.
"Yes!" Carlos cheered from my side causing a wide smile to break out on my face.
Ben said something to Mal before all the cheers and clapping started all around us and we all joined in. Mal motioned for us Vks to join her up on the balcony. Jay ushered Evie up the royal stairs followed by Carlos and I hand in hand.
The Fairy Godmother handed Mal her wand and we all stood behind her as she started the spell that would make Auradon a better place.
"To make the world a better place..." Mal began her spell and we all helped finish it out, "We have to do it face to face."
The golden glittering lights shined bright in the clear blue sky and the border around the Isle went up in golden sparkles.
Everyone around us cheered loudly in awe as a brick bridge built its way towards the Isle from Auradon.People started making their ways toward each other from both sides of the bridge.
I turned to Carlos and threw my arms around his neck and he twirled me around.
We finished our dance number as a giant purple dragon float thing came over the bridge from the Isle followed by a boat load of people.
