It was new year's Eve and the group were standing in Times square. It was half an hour until the city rang in the New year. They were stood far away from the ball but they didn't care. They were just happy to be together at New Year. Farkle and Riley had gone to get some food and Zay was chatting up some girl he was standing next to. Maya was texting everyone she knew and was leaning against Lucas. She was exhausted from all the standing. Lucas was the best option.

Maya tucked her phone in her coat pocket and turned around to face Lucas. He wrapped his hands around her waist.

"Where to Ranger Rick?"

Maya asked.

Somewhere Quiet."

He said.

"I know just the place."

She smiled.

Maya grabbed Lucas hand and dragged him through the drunken crowds. It took them awhile but they managed to get away through some of the other streets. Maya walked briskly towards the park. When they entered she took a turn off the beaten track.

"Where are we going?"

Lucas asked.

"You'll see."

"Maya it's nearly midnight."

"Quit complaining Huckleberry."

"How romantic".

He said sarcastically.

"Do you want me to leave you here?"

She tried to look threatening, but at her height and pretty face, Lucas couldn't help but just smirk and suppress a laugh.

"Fine then."

She said letting go of his hand and stalking off.

Suddenly worried, Lucas jogged after her. He spun her round and lifted her over his shoulder.

"Put me down!"

She giggled kicked her legs.

"How do I know that you won't run off again?"

"It was your fault."

"You get wound up so easily."

"Only you wind me up that much."

Maya scoffed.

"Aww I feel special."

"You should."

Lucas suddenly dropped Maya in front of him.

"Where are we?"

"This is now my favorite place."

Their faces were almost touching as they whispered to each other.

"One."

Lucas grabbed Maya around the waist and lifted her up off the floor, kissing her.

"Without a doubt, best New Year Eve ever!"

Maya smiled.

"I wouldn't have wanted to spend it any other way."

Lucas said.
