Back in world war three, there were rules.
1) no civilians are to be harmed during the process of war.
2) prisoners of war were to be killed immediately
3) nuclear weapons were strictly prohibited

Non of these were heeded by the Japanese, and so they promptly decided to attack America, the biggest army. Japanese soldiers purposely detonated civilian areas with artillery, and captured thousands to work. This work consisted of helping in the labour of nuclear weapon creation.

The British army knew what was going on, and knew it was a dangerous task trying to directly stop the Japanese. They sent it American spy's to work in those conditions, and kept a close eye on them from the air.

However, the Japanese soon spotted the hover craft above their testing area, and were furious. Lordè Kimmy In Jà called a sergeants meeting with other Japanese governors, and demanded the use of nuclear weapons to begin, even though they were not fully completed and tested.

He soon realised that this would be the biggest mistake he would ever make.

The bomb they used was much more powerful than first expected when it was dropped over Europe. It wiped out the majority of anyone living on that continent, and spread a dangerous, radioactive gas, that soon killed billions across the world. Only a few thousand people survived.

England was the first to rise from the ashes, soon followed by Ireland and America, who slowly worked together to rebuild what was lost. Throughout ten decades, the population of the world hit one billion. Not where they wanted to be, but a more comfortable number.

People began to sink back into former luxuries, and thought of things other than rebuilding Earth. The Higher archy was reinstated, and all of the worlds former issues became a worry again.

That was until the 24th of February 3022. An English woman, named Shayna White, was cooking for her family when her kitchen utensils began to shake. She must have heard them clattering, and looked up at them. They all in sync, slipped of their hooks, and shot towards her with speed. She'd have been killed. It was when she claimed to have thought about them stopping, that they did so.

At first she didn't tell anyone, it all seemed like a dream to her. So, she spent hours shut in her bedroom, looking at objects and trying to get them to move. At first it took a great effort, but soon she could move objects with her mind, with ease.

This when she told people. Shayna became a star for a few months, before a man claimed he could levitate. Another was invisibility. Soon a swarm of these reports came through, millions of people were going through what scientists liked to call 'phases'.
It took three years of conspiracy theory's and experiments before coming up with a solution. The toxic gas from the bomb back in world war three had altered the genes of those effected, and was only showing signs in their descendants.

So now the world had to come to terms with the fact that the were living in a fantasy. You were born with superpowers, and now people had a whole other way to determine if you were useless or not.
